Haven't been around for a while....sorry guys!!!
Well, I finally got the guts to try some BASIC 3-D, and it worked out great!
I did some basic barrel rolls, a couple of loops, and then landed her so I could change my shorts....then did it again.
Now.....here is were the fun stops....
I got so excited, I went home and got my last battery. I went outside, started it up, got 2 feet in the air, and it nosedived into the grass!!!!
After a few (OK, a LOT) of not so nice words, I picked it up and inspected it, and besides the blades being trashed, it didn't appear to have any problems....until I looked at the swashplate!
If you saw my Mission Impossible Rebuild Video (http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=73770) then you saw that I replaced the Swashplate....what I DIDN'T do is tighten down all 4 of the ball-link bolts that are ATTACHED to the swashplate....one of them just came loose in mid flight and popped right off!!!! Of all the STUPID mistakes, I forgot to tighten a screw!!!!!
Anyway....I've put new blades on, and now I've got a slight vibration. My blades are balanced, so i'm gonna check my main shaft and my tail shaft.
Question: When do you know it's time to change the tail drive belt and/or the tail gear pulley. I've also never changed the tail boom....should I try that as well?
I guess I should be thankful that the screw didn't pop out when I was inverted....I REALLY want to get some video of it so I can post for you guys.....

Dang Murf. You trying to make us all look bad? 3D? What? Are you sure you weren't just holding the heli in your hand and zooming it around going, "whap whap whap whap whap"?
Well, sorry to hear of the crash, but it serves you right for leaving us behind (of course I am kidding, very happy for you Murf!).
I am sure you will get the vibration figured out. Holler if you need any help.
Seriously, congrats. It must feel good to fly. :clappp

hey, every time i've crashed i usually have to replace blades, feathering shaft and main shaft and of course two servos b4 i went to metal gears. i don't know about the belt to much but i always give it a visual and check for any small tears or wears. After a few crashes i had to replace the bearings of the tail shaft because i was running it bent without knowing and also had vibration. after that i had no more vibration

Thats it! he was holding it his hands making heli noises flipping rolling it was awesome! then he tripped with a beer in the other hand......while I am faithful to my beer too murf, you have to set higher priorities for the heli......grabbing another beer is much easier and cheaper. I know its hard to get the mind set down. Practice will help. Heli before beer.

They don't go together, I can tell you! That's why I needed the hardware today, had everything else. Hey Lock, what's your favorite brew?

HeliMix & LockMD: Don't think I'm leaving you behind....I'm not, for sure.....
All I did was pop it into Stunt mode, did two figure 8's about 20 feet off the ground a banked it to the left all the way with a little negative pitch to get it all the way around...it wasn't pretty.
Neither was the loop!
I tried just pulling straight back on the right stick to get it inverted and give some negative, but I just about lost all control...that's when I had to land.
I think it will be the END of the summer before I can really do 3-D. I still can't do a counter-clockwise circle within 10 feet of the ground or I'd crash it right away...
If there's no wind this weekend I'll video the "pathetic" 3-D flying...I promise!
Beer and the 400 are PERFECTLY suited for each other....I plan to have one at my feet during my next video....

You nailed it! That has to be it!
10' Murf? That ain't far at all. Is that even one mistake high? I would go higher. I am almost scared to fly that low on the sim. Since you're the middle man, Lock and I are going to meet up at your house. Tell your... ASK your wife to prepare the guest rooms. We will be there this evening through the holiday. Oh yeah, I will be at the airport at 11 AM so make sure my ticket is ready. :YeaBaby:
