On my DX6i I normally have this switch at zero, but today, I switched it to one (1), and the heli feels completely different, its still controllable, but what did this switch do? I tried it a few times and really notice a difference.

It adjusts the gain value of the gyro. Default setting are 0:66.5, 1:64.0. Have mine on 0:68.5, 1:69.0. Still playing with them. You'll know if you get it to high when tail wag developes. Anyone care to add. I'm learning.

Isn't that the function of the Rudder D/R? The switch I'm describing is the tall skinny one above the left stick.

switch
left to right
trainer for a friend or timer start/reset
flight mode 0=normal 1=stunt constant rpm and more - pitch
for the next switches while in the menu just switch the switch to change the settings for each position i recommend making the the same so if it does switch on you makes no change or when you meesing with new setting leave one in the comfert zone
elev d/r dual rate settings and expo 0/1 just can have diffrent settings
flap gyro for 2 diffrent gyro settings (ussualy have 1 set to below 50 for 401 recetering
ail d/r same as elev d/r
rudd d/r same
th hold if set in curves should cut motor for safty and autorotations
iv also made vids explaining the dx6i

Just watched the vids (very helpful), and I noticed my "power setting" was set to European mode, I switched it over to U.S., will this change anything in the heli's flight characteristics? (I don't wanna find out the hard way).

The gyro switch switches rate mode and heading hold mode of the gyros remote gain, all the way forward is HH mode, pulling the switch toward you is rate mode.

Not true.
At least not the way these come set from the factory.
Both settings, 64% and 66.5%, are HH gains.

Yes its just for the gy401, as the stock setting must be changed for a 401 to work properly. Hope i didn't confuse anyone.

OK, got it guys.
I also have mine set up with one as rate and one as HH mode.
Just wanted to make sure it was understood how it comes out of the box.
Sorry if I confused things more than helped them.
Thanks from me too frogman
