Guys whats your razor weigh ?
my machine weighs just over 4kgs with a pack weighing 986 grams
I love mine but cant stop wondering why not go to 700 blades ?
i am going to put a Vbar on it, send it on a diet and put in the new 4200watt Scorpion motor and put a fury closed gear box with a TT on it
One thing i want to do is bring the packs up, so i am going to make another middle plate and then strap the packs right onto the bottom plate, i will extend the bottom plat out front and put the reciver pack and speedy on there to help balance the longer boom
that way i can use any size pack up to 12s easily
I have just done a E conversion on my Stratus and want to fiddle with the razor now, i know the flybar cage , carrier, paddles and associated bits on the head weigh almost 200grams alone !
If i remove the lower battery mounting plate and mount some carbon landing gear i can save another 70-75 grams
Even if i come out at the same weight it is now, Imagine a 10s (or 12s) 4kg, 710mm bladed and V-bar machine, this HAS TO ROCK ???
I really think the razor is a really understated model.
Who can cut me some carbon bits ???
Whats your thoughts guys ?
Dale,
I'd like to see what a 10s Razor could do with a flybarless setup. I bet it would rock. It certainly improved my 10s Trex600e. Our local MA guru (Peter) is talking about trying this pretty soon on one of his 10s Razors. Maybe you can beat him to the punch!
Cheers,
Tom C

700 blades are too long!
They will cut your tail blades in half.
That is a 50 size heli...not a 90.

Sorry pg
I thought i had expalined it well enough when i said longer boom.
I will be useing the boom off a stratus which will give me the same distance between the main shaft and tail out put shaft as the stratus so it WILL swing 710 mm mains and 105 tails

Ok its underway i have a mate doing the CAD drawings for the frames.
I have a TT and open tail box second hand coming from another mate.
The drawings are all done on paper, just need some carbon sheet in 5mm and 3mm and im ready to go
New scorpion 540 KV 4200watt motor and power jazz here also
Just trying to source the V-Bar unit now
I should have some pics within the next few weeks
if this works would anyone want frames and parts list for there own conversion ?

I would be interested. My Razor is pretty boring. I'm on a 2+ week waiting list for the Vbar from Revolution. I already ordered the Tempest blade grips and necessary head items. I also ordered the new wider lower plate for the Razor to accomodate the wider batts. Jumping from 10S to 12S is an expensive proposition ie batts/PJ/motor. I'm going to stick with my 10S setup and see what the Vbar will do for it alone. I like your idea of the open gear box and longer t/t & boom. Its like a 50 with 90 genetics. I will also be utilizing Mikados swash driver.
Honestabe,
I think you will be very impressed with your 10s Razor flybarless. I think that you will find it ends up outflying a flybared 12s setup! Of course, 12s would be even more wicked. I recently converted and flew a 10s flybarless SS Ion-x and it rocked! Like MrMel, I used the Raptor 60/90 metal grips but I'm sure the Tempest ones will work fine as well. Good luck and please keep us posted.
Dale,
Your 90 sized Razor flybarless conversion sound fantastic Mate. I really like your idea of an additional frame plate. This should help stiffen up the Razor frames. The original stretched Razor prototypes apparently suffered for a bit of frame flexing.
Flybarless, better battery/cg placement, good direct Servo/Swash linkage, and with a TT. Man this could be the Ion-x3 holy grail! I look forward to seeing how it all goes. Way to go mate!
Cheers,

Tom,
I heard the same with the stretch version, so with my new frames i beleive this will be fixed.
Honestabe, If your staying with 10s the machine will fit a 10s stick with no issues, it does hang out the front of the frames (under the canopy of course) and it will balance fine.
Im not sure, after my current plan of attack i will know for sure,
I am hopeing that the machine will weigh very much the same as it does in standard for but flybarless and stretched and will be Stronger in relation to flex down the boom line of the frame, due to the horizontal "5mm Mid Plate".
Im getting all excited now.

Ok i have so far managed to pull almost 400 grams from the machine !
thats 10%
Now im still fiddleing with which way to do the frames, i have also seen a while ago (gota do some research) on a gear box so the motor is laid horizontally not vertical (may have been a E-raptor conversion?) this way i can save almost 100grams in pulleys, thes MA pulleys are REALLY HEAVY, dont know yet need mroe info there.
i went for an open tail box as a mate of mine had it with a boom and TT
Another friend is set to go with the making of the hub for the bevel gear so its almost ready to go into production.

Dale,
I think that the horiz motor mount/gearbox (2:1 ratio plus it comes with 105t spiral maingear and 9 and 10t spiral pinions) you're thinking about is the one from G Force for their 10-12s Vibe 90 electric conversion kit. See;
http://www.advantagehobby.com/product.php?productid=51246&cat=0&page=1
I imagine that you could buy just the mount/gearbox, and just use straight pinions and MA maingears but you'd have to check with them.
Look forward to seeing how this all goes.
Best cheers,
TomC

Does anyone have a Vbar file to get me started with the Razor or do I have to hash it out on my own to be a "member" of the club? =]

Honestabe, use the latsest version of vstabi and that has a "quick set-up" this will work and get you in the air with no issues

Tom thanks for that link thats the sort of thing im looking into, i do remember seeing a X-zero (something like that) gear box conversion for a raptor somewhere, i just need to work out if i can get the ratio split i need.
