I'm going to be putting (3) 285's on the cyclic. Any problems in doing this? How do they fit? Do I need any extension cables? Do any have to be reversed? Which ones? Are they set the same as the stock servos? How about the travel? Any changes to the mix? Any noticeable differences in performance from the stock servos? Thanks

I don't know all the answers as I just adjust the radio settings until it all works. more than likely you will need one 4 inch servo extension. you should notice a good difference from the stock sevos, much smoother on the inputs and the centering is far better.

Should work great! I believe you will need to reverse them, as dumb as it sounds the Spektrum and JR servos run reverse to E-flights. Buy the DS285MG's or repace the gears w/ the metal gears. Wires are about the same length. I don't think you need to change the mix. The travel is up to you when you set-up the head, are you using a swash level? Yes you will notice the differnce in performance!
good luck

Thanks for the comments regarding the 285s. By the way...what servo horn did you use? I'm using the 3400 on the tail so please let me know what horn you used on that one as well. Did you use the ones already attached in the package?

I just slapped in 285's in my cyclics and a 9650 to the tail today. My gryo is about to go in its a csm420e. I use the circle horn to the tail and I boom mount it. I haven't flite tested it yet coz I'm going to work in a few hours. Hope it will be good.

On the 285's I don't remember, but whichever it was I set all the geometry to 90 degrees so find the one that best lines up w/ your linkage rods. On the 3400 I used the round one.

I have the DS285 and the 3400 on the tail.
Sokal helped me so I want to payback the forum
You will need the 6" servo extension. Here are the setting
Thro - N aile - N
Elev - R rudo - N
gyro - N Pitch - R
I did need to add travel adj to
elev and aile both are at 110%
Hope this helps.
thanks to this forum I am not flying inverted
