Well...after a long wait, it finally arrived. I now have some heli fuel for my Raptor 30v2. There was no choice apart from Byron Fuel with 30% Nitro 24% Oil. $RDS 2,600 or $US 76.47 per US gallon delieverd.

Does anyone have experience of this fuel with a Thunder Tiger 39 engine. Any recommendations on needle setting etc..? The local conditions are generally hot & humid.

Thanks in advance!

after i fell of my chair at what you paid for fuel!!!!:wow2::wow2::wow2: Could you not get any other make?? Ive had problems with byron 15 + 20% heli fuel in the past as it doesnt seem to be consistent as you start to use it up. basically you need to sset your slow needle, the one inside the throttle arm so it revs cleanly from idle, and then adjust the main needle so that immediately after flight the backplate of the engine is warm to the touch but you can hold your finger on there for atleast 5 sconds then you are at about optimum running but id see if you could get some magnum or wildcat shipped over

Steelie, thanks for the tips on the needle settings.
I know the cost is mad, but their is only one nitro supplier of fuel in the country and he only stocks Byron 30/24 and 10/16. He got his last batch in about a week ago and I bought half of the 30% stuff (...only 2 gallons and he would not sell anymore).

I am branching out in to Nitro Planes and am tinkering with the idea of a nitro or 2 stroke boat. If I can talk a couple of ex heli pilots in to getting out there gear, I will seriously think about buying in the US and sea freight. I think I can get the cost down to about $US50 per gallon (10 gallon buy) and have exactly what I need.

I guess everywhere has it's pros and cons. I have no noise restrictions to adhere to where I am, so in that part I am lucky.

I have some Trex's / HBK2's. I think the attraction for the engine is the noise and the smell of the fuel....
