Hi guys. I've discovered I glued my sensor magnets into my Align metal fan with both positive poles facing the sensor. Does anybody know of a way to get one of them out and turned around or should I just buy another fan? It's epoxied by the way. Alan

best thing i think you can do is to drill out one of the magnets then just fill the hole with Epoxy or JB weld, add a little more epoxy to balance out the fan, it shouldn't be that far off. The only reason they tell you to install both magnets is to balance the fan...you can balance the fan without using the 2nd magnet... just make sure the magnet you leave is Pos up...

I dont know if with the align governor you can change the gear ratio, but if you can just put in 4.25 instead of the normal 8.5.

Much easier: heat up one magnet, keeping the other one cold, e.g. in a cup of water.
Once you reach aprox 100 celcius the magnet will die.

I did it myself, couldnt be easier.

That won't warp the fan?

Nope.

Unless you go WAY to hot.

Just carefully drill a small hole on the other side of the magnet. STOP once you hit the magnet. Now use a small brad nail, piece of music wire, hex driver, whatever... and a hammer and knock the magnet out. unless you used JBweld to glue the magnet in, which your not supposed to do, nothing else really sticks all that well to the aluminum so it should pop out. This way you can rotate to the right direction and glue it back in with minimal loss/if any to balance.
