Hi!! I intend to get JR8717 for cyclic and Futaba BLS251 with Spartan gyro for my Logo5003D. Currently using JR R921 receiver. Which BEC should i get? And wat is the best voltage should i run the 2 type of servo. Do i need a voltage regulator?

Run it straight off a 2s lipo and use a spectrum regulator to drop the gyro and tail servo to a safe voltage.

Can i dont run a 2s as i dun wan to add addition weight to it? wat is the max voltage for that 2 type of servo?

JR8717 servos are amp hungry and I don't know of a BEC that can handle the current they draw. I've heard of people crashing from the voltage to the receiver dropping to low and having to reboot.

JR 8717 is 4.8 volt rated (Most people that own these run them on 8.4 without problems)

BLS251 is 4.8 volts rated

As for extra weight from the 2s Lipo.... it's not enough to matter in all honesty. An EVOlite 2s 1600 only weighs 86 grams.

I've heard of people using a a Western Robotics High Current BEC and not having issues, but in my opinion is borderline safe. I wouldn't run anything less than a 2s lipo with those cyclic servos if it were me.

the FlightTech 8A regulator holds the 8717 voltage fine. never had a brown out ever, and im drawing average 500mAh a flight!

Thanks Ian! I've never heard of the FlightTech 8A regulator. I'm going to look into it.

If i get a flighttech regulator, is it replacing the BEC in the circuit? So it will the 6s Lipo to the regulator then to the receiver? Wat abt the gyro?

I'm using two WR 5amp bec's on a 600 V-bar, set for 6volts the lowest I've recorded in flight is 5.5.volts. Thoses 8717 sure are hungry a single wr bec was not enough, you could get lockouts on the bench just by rapid stick movements, doubling up has been bulletproof.

Even with two theres a good weight saving, I might check out a jive if the price becomes more reasonable, and use the inbuilt bec.

cheers.

Hi Spoon,

I'm using the WR Herc 5/6 V, 5A BEC and love it. I fly it on 6 volts on both my 600E and Logo 500 3D. It's a great BEC. What convinced me to get it was that I did a search on failures and couldn't come up with a single one. I have total confidence in the units. They just work and they stay cool too.

I just use one on each heli and have had no lockouts with my Spektrum AR7000.

Good luck,:YeaBaby:

Just be careful because Bruce had problems with his WR BEC when using it with PCM because of interference. It's fine with 2.4Ghz though.

Another thumbs up for WR.

I have run 2 WR BEC's, 1 on each Rex 600 and now 1 of them on my Logo 600. Never had an issue. Spektrum reciever also. My cyclic servos are 9451's and work well. However if you are running the 8717's you better find a higher current rated BEC or double up the WR ones as those servos do draw more current as others have stated.

Git r done, and go fly.

ok. In this case, i have to get 2x WR 5A BEC. Can anyone show some diagram how should i connect up the 2 BEC?

If you've a spare channel in the rx ,just plug it in - don't matter where, just any un-used channel.

Cheers.

This works great on my logo 5003d flybarless with 8717's on the swash... plenty of power and cheap, best used with a 3s Rx battery, although a 2s works as well. But you'll have to charge it every flight if you use the 2s....

This is true, only recommended for use with 2.4, had nothing but trouble on my logo running 36mhz pcm!

I run 8717s on 2S with an Emcotec voltage regulator for the BLS 251 2 HD leads the for the Spektrum RX with an FP 1350 RX 2S pack. This way you have a battery for RX power. 4-5 6:30 flights.

Otherwise, I like the Ultimate BEC with 8717s.

The CC BEC will not handle 3 8717s...
