Just re-built my Raptor v30 after quite a major crash and thought it a good idea ro stick a new clutch and liner in.

Everything working great but it seems to me that the clutch is slipping possibly. When i rev up the heli, the engine spinds real fast without the blades spinning then eventually they catch up.

Is the clutch slipping or is there something else I should be checking.

Thanks for the help.

Did you use the clutch to install the liner and get the gap correct? Did you use the correct clutch liner? Sounds like your gap between the clutch and liner is excessive. Either that or your old one was dragging and the new one is doing as it should.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, i used the new clutch to fit the liner. I read on Raptor Technique to wrap the clutch in 2 layers of insulation tape whilst the liner glue dried. Its interesting that you say the new one might just be doing what it should and that the old one may have been dragging. If the new clutch is good, should it rev high and the blades not kick in until nearly half throttle?

Just one more point/question !. How can you set the gap between the liner and the cutch?. Surely it can only be a certain size as the liner is a certain thickness and the clutch isnt adjutable !

Many thanks

Half throttle is pretty high! It should engage well before then. I'd say 20 percent throttle if your linkage is done correctly.

Setting the gap is done by those of us without a lathe, by the clutch and tape method.

If done that way, and the gap is excessive, then I suspect you might have used a v1 liner or just got a bad clutch. Kind of hard to diagnose across the ether but if you have a caliper measure the clutch at the halfway point between the shoe pivot point and the end, and the widest part of the liner and see what the difference is.

Turns out the new clutch was fractionally too small so wasnt binding. Put the old one back on and perfect.
