if you mean the shaft for the shaft drive, i've heard remove the gear, red loctite, reinstall

The gear on the tail shaft was slipping on mine when I would apply full right rudder. I CA'd it back on and it's still holding.

Yea, I got a serious wag problem on My SD until I C.A.'d mine.
My hope is that it will hold good, but not good enough that it won't slip upon a strike and strip. I'm hoping it will slip and protect it and the crown gear up front.
On the belt drives, do You keep the belt loose enough that it will chatter instead of stripping teeth on a strike? Has anyone stripped a belt yet?

I really think the gear slipping was what saved my gears because my tail rotor has had a couple of encounters with a trash can and grass.

I'll say this for the shaft drives. . .
There are a few more adjustments than a belt drive, but when it's in good, You can sure see it in the solid flying.
I guess on the belt drive, You have to remove the main shaft to replace a belt, right?
If so, then the Shaft drive isn't much, if any, more trouble to keep in check.
If a belt driven tail is more hardy, and with the right tension, the belt simply chatters instead of breaking teeth in a strike, then that may be the way to go, I don't know.
Either way, I wish they made the rear skid holder taller to get the tail up a bit more. I might place a spare aluminum spacer on the rear on and use longer screws and all these carpet strikes may end soon enough !
I half stripped the front crown gear and don't have a replacement, so loosened the screw and scooted it in more and that's getting Me by until a replacement arrives.
Ordered several hundred dollars worth of parts, but that was not in stock at Readyheli at the time;
Go figure. . .

I agree that the tail needs to be higher especially if you have SD. I dumped the stock landing gear for some off another heli and it sits twice as high now.

Are you guys ucing the CF gear? They give the heli a nose down stance that keeps the tail rotors about 3/4" off the ground.

I liked the CF gear but they are still to low imo. Why is it most of the RC helis have such small landing gear? I've changed the landing gear on all my birds. I've got to get some pix up of my 200 it's definitely unique.

the walkera 53#1 landing gear rules for this heli. mine has never broke. i have 3 sets of them, 2 are still in the bag.

I formed the rear skids, heat assisted, and bowed them inward; bowed the front ones out lower; it is a bit reverse pidgeon toed, but it jacked it up nice!
Then, got bored; discovered I did have the C.F. skids, assembled them and put them on. Hard to believe they are 2 Grams heavier than stock! You would think they would be lighter, oh Well.
I took some spare C.F. and C.A'd an extension nub on the tail fin; now the tail fin hits the ground at least a half inch before the blade does.

Seems like some of CrabFu's ShapeLock could work for this, too.
