I was having the hardest time starting my spectra with camper fuel. In fact i only got it to start once with camper fuel. So this past week i decided to try gas and to my surprise i had no problems starting it up. I couldnt believe it and now i am excited to give my spectra a try. It was getting very disappointing bringing my spectra out to the field without even having a chance to hover it.
Anyways i was wondering why wouldnt my camper fuel work? Was it because it was old (i wouldn't know, i bought it from walmart)
Settings?
Anyways i was also wondering how everyone is liking there spectra now with the recall of the tail. Did this fix the problems?

I never had a problem with the camper fuel
3 pulls cold 1 or 2 warm
Do you still have a choke?
Strange

If your low needle is set correctly and the idle is high enough, the motor should start fine on the Camper fuel.
Your problem may be that the low needle is set for gasoline and needs to be opened a bit to get it to start. Anyway, the needle settings are very close from Gasoline to Camper fuel, yours may just be toward the gasoline side of lean. Other than needle settings and fuel contaminants, there should be no reason for a difference in the motors operation.
Since my Proto Spectra-G was built before the production open boxes where made and my machine was converted from a Fury Extreme, I have always had the closed box. Never once have I had any tail issues with this machine and it has been flying longer than any other Spectra-G. There should be no more problems with the tails of Spectra-G's.
BTW.... I never have had a need for the choke, even in winter. Just put on your starter to the top of the start shaft and hit the button....instant ON.

I have been flying nothing but the Ozark Camper Fuel from Walmart. Been through about 6 gallons without a hitch, I also have the TRM motor which might make a difference and I have used nothing but Belray Full Synthetic oil from the get go ..
John has posted lots of good info and has given me some guidance in the past, so I'm just guessin you may need to richen up the bottom a little and try again. I like the camper fuel as it doesnt smell in the back of my SUV, plus its about the same price as gas at the present time.
Fly and Have fun !

I have not had any trouble since I have gone to the close tail box at Ircha. My Spectra is running strong on camper fuel and the cool weather here now helps also. John helped us at Ircha teaching us how to ajust the carb. He is great.
