Saw this in the last MA mag and at the LHS the other day. For some reason it intrigues me.. Anyone got one and can report on the "build" and flying qualities?

I did not need to know they were shipping. :)

I saw it at Toledo, and it LOOKS SHARP. Very well built and finished.

But add up the plane, retracts, motors, ESCs, and packs, and it ain't cheap. :)

I am waiting for them to put it up as a combo deal. Horizon has/had the P-38 with mtoros and ESCs cheaper than just the motors and ESCs, like a discount on the power system along with a free airplane. :)

Hmm lemme see Terry...

Not cheap... Where have I heard that before? It sounds really familiar...

Oh yeah!! RC Helicopters! :)

The thing really caught my eye. Normally I look at a plank and go, "ehh" but this one make me go, "hey....."

Still showing coming soon.

But:

Airplane = $229
2 x Power 32 motors = $180
2 x 60 amp ESC = $170
Retracts = $180
7 x servos = ???
2 x props = $12

$600 plus radio gear. And crash parts are not exactly cheap.

But I agree, I want one also. :)

I was mistaken. The one hanging from the roof in the LHS is NOT a Deuces Wild - it's just got a very similar color scheme and since I can't see the top of it, I couldn't tell for sure. Owner's wife didn't know what it is...

However, I'm officially number 1 on the list and get first dibs when the shop gets one in...

It's a nice lookin plane, but I am done with the electrics. Been Flying GS planks for about 8 months now and I am unloading all my electric junk. It's just no fun for me to fly for only 6-10 mins max anymore when I can spend $10 or so on 2.5 gals of gas and fly a 30% and 33% 2-3 weekends in a row and get up to 20 mins of flight at a time. If I had the room for another plane something in a gasser like this might be an option ;)

Anyway, the E-Flite stuff is starting to look polished for sure. Like to see one close up.

Mine is already ordered from Horizon Hobby & I got the servos today. The Kit, the retracts, the motors (I'm thinking the E-Flite 32's) are in the order as well. I already have the pair of Phoenix 80's I plan to use.

I can't wait!

I'm a baaaaaad puddy tat...

it does add up no matter how you look at it, but I would go a cheaper route.
Airplane=$229
2X motor Scorpion motor not sure what one would need maybe $65 each=$130
2X 60 Amp ESC Suppo $47.90
park BEC $20.00
7x servos I would not use nothing but HS-65 $22 each$154.00
2X props $12 is about right
Retracts $ 180

lets see even with my cheaper esc and motors it is still right at $800 yeah do not think i will be buying one but it is a nice loooking plane

This is a twin 25 airplane, uses standard size servos, not micro.

And with that much in it, I would probably put digitals in it. But DS821s should be fine.

ARRGGHHH!! LHS called yesterdayafternoon.. "Hey Kevin, we just got that Deuces Wild airplane in today.. You're 1st on my list.. You still want one?"

Can't afford it right now 'cuz I planted my 500 *HARD* last weekend and spent a lot of money fixing it... That and my upcoming trip to IRCHA... I *SO* would have run over and picked it up if I hadn't crashed the 500.... :arggg::arggg:

Mine's been on order for almost 3 months now. I have a whole stack of parts to finish the entire build, except for the kit itself. I just looked at the Horizon website this morning and they are now showing them to available in late August when a few days ago they were showing early August.

When they started shipping the retract kits, my LHS got thiers a week before I did. I don't think I'll be pre-ordering anything esle from them as they don't seem to fill customer backorders before getting the hobby shops thier orders. Seems to me that paid customers ought to come first. (yes, I know they don't charge until they ship, but pre-orders should still take priority)

Horizon always ships to LHS before direct customers. It is part of their plan to reduce their competing with LHS.

I got an email from them today asking whether I still wanted the kit.

Seeing as how I ordered everything from them at once, and they have already shipped various parts to me on 4 different occasions (without asking about it first), I thought it a kind of silly question, but told them to ship away.

As for not competing with the LHS, why then do they sell direct at all? I'm not being argumentative, Pinecone, I'm just trying to understand something that makes no sense to me.

Why offer package deals and advertise before release if they don't intend to compete? I've often ordered pre-release materials/kits/etc. from other vendors and never been treated like this in the past. The whole point of pre-release ordering is to get them before everyone else, including the LHS.

Horizon's policy on this issue seems capricious and arbitrary at the least. My opinion, FWIW (probably naught).:arggg:

Well, their policy is actually quite clear. Since they are a distributor, they would PREFER that you buy from the LHS. But since not everyone lives near an LHS, or at least one that deals with Horizon, they sell direct.

But they support the LHS PRIMARILY, so they ship out LHS orders first.

So if you want it fastest, pre-order from your LHS.

Nope, not yet. Not buying anything until I send Mr. Bergen a big fat check for one of his little turbine powered beasties.

After that, we'll see about the Deuces Wild.. :)

Oh yes... I *WILL* have one for IRCHA next year. I've got about 2/3 of the money saved up right now and anticipate placing the order shortly after the new year...

Anyone wanna buy a Trex450SE?? Got two of 'em ready to peddle.. :)
