Just had the call from my "local" (somewhere up right of Birmingham UK) heli shop to see if I still wish to proceed with my originally intended Aurora purchase.

Great news for some and excellent service considering its a public holiday here in the UK.

That means you can start cleaning up your building table John;-)

I don’t need to worry, I didn’t proceed with the purchase.

As I have always said, this machine going to be a superb 3D heli and good luck to shops, pilots and all involved.

Why didn't you proceed with the purchase?

One reason is I took up this,

Nice! I've always wanted to try one of those myself. I got big into skimboarding and surfing itself became a close second, but I can't do either anymore, so maybe someday......
I'm sure there's a lot less heartbreak in one of those anyways!

Just remembered this old post. Love from the 10 Min mark on the video.

Next week I have 7 days booked for solid kiting in Egypt; Have a look at the “image gallery” at Waveriders.

Whole holiday Cost the same as visiting two Charmouth fun flies and sure beats standing in a wet field ankle deep in mud. Really has opened my mind like many new things do.

How is everyone finding their new Aurora's?

So far, the builds have been good (I have 2). I'm just waiting on motors to come in and they'll be up in the air. I haven't had the issues that some have and I have a first run kit and a later run kit. So far, I've been pretty happy with the machining quality and the model itself is just so darn seckse.

Just got to see a bunch of Auroras this weekend, including the new 50 size Avant heli. I can't remember what they called it but it's even better looking than the Aurora! Augosto really has outdone himself. They (the team pilots, that is) ended up smashing 5 Avants into the ground, so it made for one heck of an event

Yea they are pretty nice on the eyes. I could never afford one though so I decided I'd go win one. Oh that's right, you were there!

Skunkworkz,
Are you referring to the Vision 50 by ELYQ or did you actually see a 50 size Avant. And the Team only smashing 5 helicopters is a record indeed to be proud of !

There you go. ElyQ sounds right, but funny name. I don't have a clue what any of it all meant, but boy it was rough seeing that nice of a lid all broken up. The Avant guys were the ones flying them, so I probably got it confused. It still made for a good show anyways. Good looking birds overall.
The last funfly that I went to, only the Trex 700's bit the dust, but it was pure carnage at the field on Saturday. 15-20 crashes all in all (official tally hasn't come out yet). Finless caught 3 crashes within 15 minutes of each other, so needless to say-it got ugly. The one Aurora chicken danced itself so bad that it looked like a total loss. The other ones weren't too bad.

Hmmmm .. so thats why we can't buy one for love or money ... the team pilots are wreaking them as fast as they can make em !!!!

****eh hem***.....don't you mean 'faster' than they can make them! lol Yeah, they don't have the best public record for getting their stuff out, but put it this way; you know it's not going to be another one of Align's-trial & replace, trial & replace, trial & replace-routines, you are getting an knock-out bird right away and I am a big fan. Not to say that Align is pure junk, I just prefer quality over quantity (an argument best saved for another posting anyways!)
After speaking with Augosto on more than one occasion, I can guarantee that he is not the monster everyone seems to want to make out of him. I think think people put way too much speculation into the mix, but if you have patience, you will be rewarded greatly!
Job well done by the whole Avant team, it's nice to know they are human as well!

I want it

I sure would like to see more kits out on the market soon. I had a bad deal with mine and now the more I look it over it would seem that Im better of just getting a new kit.

I dont know, mine had tons of "first-batch-issues", actually alot more then my T700.

I only wish there actually would be a supply out so If I have to re-kit I dont have to wait a year.

I can't speak for Augosto or Avant RC, but I think they're working with a couple new distributors and it might take a bit to get everything set, but I'm sure they are doing their best. It's a pretty tough market so they'll have to start getting things right if they want to stick around for a while. It'd be a shame to see such a nice model fold, but hey, that's life eh?!!! ;)
