OK, all.....I'ved been tweaking this bird with stock parts to get it to fly better for the better part of a week, and I'm at my wits end. Here is a list of what I've done:

REPLACED

Main Shaft
Main Gear and Tail Gear (including one-way bearing)
Tail Drive Gear Shaft
New Belt
Boom
Tail Rotor Case & Shaft
Feathering Shaft
NUMEROUS Bearings

ADJUSTED

LUBED EVERYTHING (and man....I mean EVERYTHING!!)
Leveled the swash plate
Balanced the Blades
Corrected Pitch Curves (THANKS SOKAL!)
Tracked the Blades
Adjusted Belt tension

MODS

The ONLY Mod I have EVER done on this thing was to mount the STOCK ESC on the outside of the frame PRIMARILY for heat issues.

My AVERAGE flight times (NON-3D) when I got the 400 in March was 8-9 minutes easy without the ESC ever kicking in. I just landed it knowing I was getting close.

Now I'll SOMETIMES get about 3 minutes before the ESC kicks in (and the battery is still cool) and the most I can get is around 6-7....

I live in SAN ANTONIO and I know we've been hitting in the 80-90s lately.....

AM I MISSING SOMETHING????? :arggg: :arggg: :arggg: :arggg:

Am I going to HAVE to switch to a Sports BEC or ESC or something else that can handle the heat, 'cause the stock one ain't cutting it right now....

LockMD: I PROMISE that I am drinking COPIOUS amounts of beer while I tweak the bird so I know that beer withdrawal is NOT the answer!!!!

HeliMIX: Make me a vid that's going to fix all my problems and I'll fly up there and edit and produce your first BLade 400 motion picture!!!!

Sokal: You're bird seems to do well in the heat...what's your trick? If it's fancy, make sure to draw me a picture in crayon or something...I am a HS teacher, you know!!!

PATIENTLY WAITING YOUR RESPONSES !!! (with a beer in each hand!!!)
:cheers

LiPo batteries can get ruined pretty quickly if you fly them to the limit, you MUST NOT use more than 80% of the total charge, anymore and the battery is being killed. What that means to you is that a soon as you feel a drop in power that is your signal to land. If you really want to do it right, get a good charger that tells you how many Mah it puts bak into the battery and fly for 4 min and se how may mah you put back in. if you have a 2100 battery you can safely take out 1850 mah and NO MORE. If you fly until the low voltage cutoff programmed into the esc kicks in you are KILLING those LiPos. Time your flights or make sure you don't fly too long. Now go out and get a new battery from Thunder Power or Flightpower.

Am I missing something, 2100 X .8 = 1680, should be what you put back in.
