I personally don't set any up except for a V Curve in idle up just in case the GV1 fails, but you don't have to go to extremes setting it up. And you shouldn't need any mixing.

Once the GV1 takes control of the throttle. Any throttle mixing that is set up in the radio will be over ridden.

As Mongoose mentioned, most pilots set up a throttle curve in the idle ups just in case something happens to the GV1. That way they will know something is wrong and still have throttle control of the heli.
But if you don't want to set up any throttle curves that is fine and the GV1 will work without them.
Be sure to set up the GV1 to turn off in the Failsafe settings . Just setting the throttle to go to idle in failsafe will not be good enough. Once the GV1 is engaged it will stay engaged till something tells it to turn off. That is why you have to set it in failsafe mode to turn off also.

Do you do this from the GV-1 or the radio?

You set the GV1 to turn OFF from failsafe in the radio.

OK turning off the GV 1 in fail safe is simple. You have the GV! plugged into channel 7 and channel 8. One of those channels the On/off lead from the GV1 is plugged into it. It should be plugged into channel 7 (Aux 1).
Now if you have an on/off switch set up on the transmitter. Go into the Failsafe/Hold menu of the 9C. On the menu go to the Aux channel ( 7) that the on/off from the GV1 should be plugged into. Put the switch that controls the GV1 in the OFF position on the transmitter. Now activate the Failsafe on that Aux Channel.

Now turn off the transmitter and receiver. Turn on the receiver and then the transmitter. Now on the GV1 menu on the GV1 scroll thru the menu to you come to SWCD. Beside this it should say ON. Now click the switch on the transmitter that turns if off/on. The menu on the GV1 should change with the switch On and OFF.
Put the switch where the screen on the GV1 says ON. Now turn off the transmitter only. Within about 1 second the GV1 screen should say OFF, also the throttle should go to idle if you have failsafe set up on the throttle. You need to have the throttle stick all the way open to test this before turning off the transmitter.

The GV1 will not turn off in failsafe unless you set it up to turn off this way. The GV 1 has no idea what the throttle channel is doing when it goes into failsafe. So if the GV1 is not set to turn off in failsafe it just keeps on doing its job and keeps the throttle where needed.

Hi, I am reletavely new to the heli scene. Just purchased a GV-1 but inspite of reading the manual over and over I could not figure out how to install it. I am currently flying MODE-1. Using a 9CHP Super Tx and a 9 channel Rx. Can anyone please help how to configure the GV-1. I would like to turn on the GV1 witha master switch (preferably A/B) and when on the Normal/Idle1/Idle2 throught the 3 way switch E takes over. Would be very grateful if anyone can help. Please do help. Thanks Rajeev Chirimar, India

Rajeev,
First the throttle servo will plug into the GV1 in the slot labeled Throttle Servo.
The GV1 has three leads and plugs coming out of it.
The one labeled Throttle plugs into Channel 3 on the Reciever
The next one labeled On/Off will plug into Channel 7 on the receiver.
The next one labeled Speed will plug into Channel 8 on the receiver.
Now you need to power up the transmitter and then the receiver. Go into the menu on the GV1, scroll thru to the gear ratio menu and set the gear ratio of the heli the GV1 is installed on. Now scroll thru the menu till you see the flashing LMT. Put the throttle stick in the idle position and push the input button on the GV1. Menu should say High now, push the throttle stick all the way up and push the input button. Menu should now say stop, pull the throttle stick all the way down and also pull the trim all the way down. Now push the input button on the GV1, it should start flashing Low again. If it flashes Err, you did something wrong.

Now your ready to go into the governor menu in the 9C transmitter. You can set your speeds for the GV1 up from there and also assign what switches you want to control the GV1.
