View Full Version : 611 reset problem

Does anyone know if the 611 amp could reset itself back to the factory defaults under circumstances other than using the menus? Myself and some others have noticed the gyro getting reversed on it's own! Arizona regs are being used with both setups which should supply a constant 4.8 to the gyro and tail servo. If this failed and lets say surged a bit more juice, could the amp reset? The Arizona pin switches are not very good in my opinion. If they rust out, they get very unreliable and I was thinking that this may play into the problem. I dunno...

Thanks for your help!

I have had the 601 do the same thing a couple of times. Never could find a reason for it. I know of a couple more pilots that have experienced the same thing. I just got in the habit of checking gyro direction when I power up the electronics. Only takes a second to move the tail and see if the correct input is being given by the gyro.

Thanks David. I guess the real concern for me is if this sort of thing can happen in flight (very bad scenario). The thing about this is that the gyro direction is normally set in the amp which in the Evo 50 sits inside the servo tray, inaccessible.

Travis,
It won't happen in flight. At least that is what I have been told and I have never heard of it happening in flight. Only cases I had it happen were when turning the power on. Once the gyro initializes it is fine. When it happened to me, I had been flying the model. Turned the power off and then turned power back on for next flight and that is when I found out the gyro was reversed. I went ahead and reversed operation direction and flew the model. Both times it happened , it was same scenario. The other pilots I know that have had it happen, it was the same thing. Gyro was reversed when they powered up. They had been flying the model previous that same day.

And I thought I was losing my mind when the 611 on that Industrial reversed on me last week. Pheew!

It only did it once, I puzzled for quite awhile on how I could have pushed the right buttons to do that.
