Sooo.. like the title says.. im a new guy.. still somewhat new to helicopters. Been flying the cx2 for about 2 months now, so last week i decided to upgrade to the blade 400.. and, frankly.. i'm in love.. theres so much more control, power.. and fun...well anyways..

So all memorial day weekend, its been kindof crappy and rainy. I had my blade out in a parking garage yesturday, practicing low hovers/easy stuff and was generally happy with my progression. Well today the sun was out, and a slight 5-10mph wind, it was time to take her to the soccerfield near my house and get a lil bit of altitude, room to breath a lil bit.

Onto the crash, got her up about 20 feet, was doing some easy circles, and the next steps happened in a blur, she ended up sideways to me, flying backwards.. strait into the ground
, i cut the throttle as soon as i knew what was gonna happen and got over an unplugged the battery.

It wasnt as bad as i thought it was going to be, it was defenitly moving pretty quick but it wasnt high, im glad i didnt drop it from like, 50 feet.

Onto the damage (wow this is getting a bit long, sorry..) main rotors are trashed, along the with most of the servo linkages and the swashplate is all bent up.. The tail rotor assembly seems intact, but the tail boom is slightly bent.. also the gear broke off.

The only thing im really worried about.. is when the landing gear broke off, it broke off the two tabs in the rear that hold the 2 tail boom supports and the gear on the body fo the heli, just wondering.. is there an easy fix for that, because i really dont wanna have to replace the whole frame..

I guess thats about it for my first rant/blog/update on my first crash lol..
im not giving up thats for sure, the 2 minutes into the battery was defenitly the funnest i've ever had before the inevitable happened.. so i guess i can use this to learn how to take apart the whole rotor/swashplate assembly

heres a couple quick pics i just took ..
also, i just started it.. without using throttle and tested the servos.. looks like all servos still move and react like normal.. hopefully im good there..

CA works for me. I busted one of the landing gear tabs and have put about 20 more flights with no probs.

CA may work but always best to replace the frame in this case. Also you may want to pull the boom and make sure its not broken off inside the frame. I had that happen with a Blade 400 before.

Of course your feathering shafe etc is trashed, when you lift it from the fly bar just make sure their is no slop before you try and fly it. The little tabs that lock the flybar in the head block tend to break off easily.

Sorry to hear about your first crash, but to get better you have to scare yourself once in awhile.

Good luck with the repair.

The first crash was just an opening ceremony for the many series of upcoming crash later..

heh, i told myself it was a learning experience.. first time taking apart a big helicopter.. i pretty much dissassembled the whole thing, minus the motor/servos/esc, found more broken parts.. so had to order some.

I'm back home from the road now tho, so its being completed tonight no matter what, i'll stay up til 3am if i have to.

Anyways hopefully my next crash wont be for a while.. im taking it easy for a while til im totally confidence. And when it does happen, i'm upgrading to metal parts, i found all the stuff i shoulda bought in horizonhobby's online catalog, so next time.

all that you described was broken, tail rotor, main rotor, feathering shaft, boom was bent but not snapped, snapped a few servo arms off, grinded some teeth off the main gear.

On the plus side, you have even more crashes to look forward to. I had crashed my falcon enough times that when I crashed my $800.00 RCT-450 for the first time it wasn't a big deal....
