Slight Problem

After fitting my HDX superframe I have noticed that I have solved the battery weight problem but created another. My old (Or rather new!) ESKY canopy will not fit!! I could make it fit my moving the canopy mounts but it may weaken the frame. What should I do?

I would imagine a HDX canopy must fit. Maybe a Trex. But TBH I did want to keep my canopy if I could.

Any suggestions welcome. Or pics of canopys even better.

is there any way you could move the holes in the canopy?
I know this may be obvious and I apologize if you have already thought of it.
And if moving the canopy mount of the frame, you would only be drilling 2 holes it should weaken that much.

I thought of that but whats happenning is the canopy is coming forwards quite abit and is starting to look a bit silly. The frame is only about 5mm thick and if I made a hole for the canopy you would only have about 1 mm max either side. Not very strong.

Off to work now but will have a look when I get back and see if I can think of something. Thx for the input apprecitate it

Here's an idea :) Use an Align or HDX Canopy.... both of which look 100 times better than the esky canopy.

Think I like the bottome one. Its $15.99 the other darker blue same pattern is $23. They are my favorites.

I make it a point not to buy glass canopies :) everytime i put one on i crash and ruin it, when i have on the plastics i dont crash LOL

I WILL be buying the Trex style head soon and I cant descide on the copterX or the 3dx one for $99. Whats your opinion? or do you have an alternative thats better. Again a uk seller would be great.

well i dont own a copterX head but i do know they dont have the V2 feathering shafts in them... So the one From XMSeller (cnchelicopter.com) one is stronger and better as its made with higher great aluminium plus comes with the 4mm Trex Version 2 feathering shaft...

It also comes with the correct swash type...

If i were anyone else :) i would get the good one one time and not have to go and buy seperately a diffent swashplate.

Also make sure tell him you need type B swashplate and some extra balls (no pun intended) for your servo links, he will include it for you.

If he doesnt really doesnt matter, simply unscrew the 3 swash balls on your old esky swashplate and swap them out along with the antirotation pin, they are all direct replacement with same threading so nothing to worry about, that way you dont have to even mess with ball links etc etc.

Only other cheaper one that comes with everything is the one on xheli.com but remember its not as good of an aluminium and they are pretty high on shipping so would work out to about the same price for lesser quality.

Copter X is available on ebay for usually $59.00 but then you also have to buy a seperate swashplate which brings up the price and double shipping charges for 2 different orders. Its all up to you :)

Wait, wait... the Superframe STK (alias HDX450, a.k.a. 3DX450 "A" style) uses T-Rex style swashplates. Isn't that the one you ended up getting, Andy? Or was it the "B" style? And if it was, didn't you already have a compatible swashplate ordered?

The $59 CopterX V2 head will be a straight fit on the "A" or Superframe, and it does have the 4 mm feathering shafts. I thought all the cnchelicopter/xmseller heads use 3 mm shafts.

The head I have put an offer in on is the B style is that the wrong one? I have the extra ball so could convert the swash round I think if needs be

Just jogged my memory. I ordered a Futaba digital servo for the tail and I remembered what what Dierwolf was saying about the UBEC. Will that 1 digital servo cause me any problems or should it be ok?

Finn, XM Seller only sell both Version 2 and Version 1 depends which you order.

The reason i said CopterX comes with 3mm is because of someone on here that got one and said it was pure 3mm thoughout... perhaps he got older version i dont know.

Anyways now that i am up on the entire "Ronnieheli" helicopter yes just go with the CopterX head, you already have the right swash so your all set.

and GAWD!!! PLEASE!!!! Do us all a favor and never take a picture of the purple-ly stuff on that beautiful frame :)

Which ESC are you going to use??? if its from the belt i would say stay clear :)

I got Castle Creates CCBEC for 23 bucks, it can handle up to 10 Amps :)

I have the castle creations Phoenix 35A ESC with that UBEC I showed you a pic of earlier. Think you said it only does 5A max. Hope it will suffice for 1 digital servo?

Looks dont mean a thing, they are all Align Trex Head design... Its the material is made from that matters in this case... I know for a fact the 3dx / Sonix heads that xmseller sells are all 7071 Aluminium.. have no idea what CopterX uses for Aluminum.
