Hi all,
I wanted to share my build experiences with you, I guess you guys are still curious to see a little more, and up close about this Italian "500" stallion ;), so here we go...
My setup:
- Msh 500 kit with the 800 Kv Lipotech/MSH motor and SAB Blades.
- Lipo's Flightpower 6S EVO25 2500
- Spartan 760 Gyro with a JR DS 3500G
- Swashservos 3x JR DS3405 MG
- ESC Kontronik Jazz 80-6-18
- Rx Spektrum AR6200
"The box".

This is what's in the box.
All bags are filled with one build stage only.
So you don't have to switch between bags.
The manual looks very clear, with 3D exploded views, part numbers, and some notes and tips for the build.
The build manual can be downloaded @ www.msheli.com

I started right away, so here Part1 or bag "A"...
The heli was tested with Futaba servos (S9650) and i think many Mini servos will fit in this very smart construction, but the JR's had to be modified a little.
The horns should have a hole at 16 mm from servo center.

The beginning is always the worst part of building something, :)
Today I made much more progress, i'm impressed sofar.
More pictures/comments tomorrow...

Looks good. Where did you find JR arms that were 16mm? I have the Z3650's and the arms aren't even close to being long enough.

What a wonderful beginning to a pictorial, i hope you enjoy the build as much as i did.
Please keep this going right thru the build.

Hi,
I got a set of Graupner Horns (EU equiv. for JR)
I think you have to search for JRPAHSUP5 (JR superhorns).
The holes are not precise at 16 mm btw... :), 13,15,17 and 19 mm.
I start with 17 and measure what it does to head, we'll see.
@ Osace
It's a joy to build sofar!.
I'll do my best to make a clear pictorial.

EricW:
Stick your main shaft in the bearing blocks while mounting your servos. This will ensure it fits in later on. Ditto that when installing the 3rd BB in the frame. It would be also be wise not to firm up the servo mounting screws at the moment in case the 3 BBs don't line up later.

Thanks Trex888,
The tip is in the next pictures.

Well yesterday I did bag "B".
I really like the quality of the 30% carbon filled plastic pieces.
Also compliments on the mould engineering/production and nice surface finish of the parts.
The pieces all fit very nice.
Not many things to comment on for bag "B", some tips and notes in the following pictures.

Just in time.......Thanks EricW. My Protos is somewhere between Jupiter Florida and Dallas Texas.........
I went with the JR Z3650's as well. Does this pic look like what I need to get to 16mm.
I did not think about the pinion thing.....So 15T is for 6S setup?

The large JR arms jump from 15mm to 17mm.
If you want exactly 16mm (as perscribed), you have to go with these:

Hi Mclaren
The ones husky shows are better if you can get them.
You would need at least 3 identical horns, and preferably a couple extra to select the perfect 90º horn setting.
With a 6S setup, 15T was strongly recommended by Corrado.
I also ordered a 16T in case i want to try some things in combination with the Jazz Governor.

The next step.
Bag "C"
Pretty straight forward and it sort-of finishes the build of the body.

Later I'll post the build of the head.

Is it true that we need to buy the o-rings to hold the battery and esc?
I found them bundled in a kit that the manual did not mention.

And i believe that's standard.

My humble thoughts as a first time build reporter about the Design and build..
I'm a engineer myself and have worked with plastics and plastic-design,
Designing / engineering this heli has been a LOT of work, and I see a lot of great solutions in plastic related design problems.
Lot's of nice details, like being able to completly route the wires inside the frame...
Where needed Aluminium was used.
The quality is good, the fit is good.
Some parts are candidate for maybe a nice thin carbon upgrade, like the tail fins.
The links were all stiff and needed to be sized, not a big deal for me BTW, i heard this is something they work hard on to improve in the very near future.
Overall it was a Very nice build!
I'm impressed with the fact this is the first helicopter they produce.
If it flies as good as it looks, I'm a very happy camper :)
I hope you liked my, for me sometimes hard to translate ;) , build report/ Pictorial, ... and maybe you can use some of my tips.

Thanks guys :)
Maiden was a success!
Weather is not that good over here, so i had to squeeze it between the thunderstorms.
First stayed in normal (chicken ;) ), but the Jazz doesn't like a normal curve when you use the Governor so I put it down and flipped to Idle-1 on 70% and took off.
I didn't touch the trims, and it flew great.
The head was still a bit stiff / jumpy on the pitch in the beginning but it improved later during the flight, has to wear-in a little i guess.
Did not do any fun stuff yet ;), but it felt very nice and locked in for a first try!
So when the weather allows me i can start dialing in the controls :).
Btw. This heli has a awesome sound, only blades....

Hi Eric,
Thanks for the great build write-up. One suggestion is to change the wording here about belt tension to say it needs to be adjusted at both the tail and motor side as I believe a few people have been confused and only adjusted on one side.

Thanks Dennis, your right btw,
I'll change that asap, and try to make a more detailed description on how to adjust the belt tension.
Edit:
Text changed, this is how i did it :)

Thanks Hulley :)
It's a tough choice, you can spend them only once...
I was looking for at least a 500 sized E-heli, the Logo 500 and later the 400, T-rex 500 / 600...:arggg:
After reading about it, and watching and especially hearing some videos, this one stole my hart...:YeaBaby:
