OK,, so I am new to the Raptor Family—but not to the world of nitro engines, but”” this glow plug issue is keeping me awake at night. Upon the madden flight of my Raptor 30 v2 pro with the TT 39 engine using glow power 30 she lifted and hovered for aprox 30 to 40 seconds and than power tapered off to the point where hover was no longer possible. This I did a couple of times before rechecking my needle settings. Reset needles at 3 turns out with main needle and 2 turns out with low end needle.. Again attempt to hover---- same thing---- only now the engine is really hot !! to the point where I can not touch the engine…( Really Hot )..

So now I tear the engine apart looking for an air leak and check and retighten all bolts and also do the same to the muffler.. So any way when I finely put every thing back together and attempt to start the engine the glow plug well not fire, it fires just fine out side of the engine but after installing and tightening I get flashing lights on the glow side of my align 2in1 voltage reg and the plug well not fire. What’s up with this !

Jopa,
Hot equals lean. You may have restrictions somewhere.
If you're useing a header tank, by pass it. Some header tank intake nipple holes are to small and need enlarging.
Check the exhaust to tank line.
Check for small hole or un-noticeable split in the lines.
Might have a needle valve restriction. Remove the fuel line at the needle valve. Use an extra piece of line to blow through the fuel intake. While blowing, move the carb through it's range and notice the air flow. Also open and close the needle valve through closed and wide open, noticeing the flow. If you used any gasket seal on the muffler. It's possible a small fleck has found it's way to your plug. Not good. I know you've probably done most of these already. I'm just running down the list.
By pass the 2 n 1. Could have gone south. Or its grounded out on the plug.
try going to 4 and 3 on the high and low.
If you haven't already done so. Check out;

Mr. Mike Prewitt has an excellent site on raptors and some handy engine tuneing tips.
I hope this is of some small help.

Yo,,, Lamar, Hay man thanks,, I think as far as the glow plug issue goes I believe you are 100 percent correct,, I can only assume my 2in1 is taking a nap, I well replace it and that should fix the plug fire. As for the lean run, I have not restarted the engine since going over it and checking all the other usual things. I did not fined any obvious air leaks or restrictions but I well fire it up tomorrow and see what goes.. Thanks…

If you ran it that lean you may have melted the element in the plug. Pull it and look for a nice even coil. Distorted or melted off = bad plug.

Adust the high needle just 3 clicks lean and i had the same problem you have i replaced the glow plug and 3 clicks to the rich and no problem my engin was very hot too

I had overheating problems with my 30v2, OS37 until I used JB weld to seal the muffler. Gaskets didn't work. It's much better since I sealed it with the JB.
I have the original Align 2 in1. I sealed the wires at each end with hot glue as I read about on this forum. It is working fine.
Good Luck.

I use the black high temp rtv (oil resistant) to seal the muf/pipe on. My thought is if it works on a small block chevy it will work on the glow too.
