Hi guys, I got some lipos that are fully charged (small 7.4v 800mah). I am leaving for the summer. Do I need to discharge and then "SORE" charge them for safe keeping or is 3 months fine for leaving them fully charged?

thanks

do a storage charge on them and have at it.

darn, unfortunately the cell pro 4S doesn't discharge :/ I have to discharge them all with the heli which wouldn't be bad except that the heli is not in flying condition and i'm leaving in the morning :/

then dont sweat it. The worst that can happen is reduced flight time which you would see anyway with use. it should be marginal at best.

I've heard you should store them half charged... see --> http://www.rchelisite.com/lipo_battery_charging_and_safety_guide.php

Just fly them for about 1/3 to 1/2 your normal flight time and put them away.

Just in case anyone else reads, here's my one experience with this. I run six Kong Power 3s 2200mah packs on my 450. Last December I drove into the ground with it on my first pack out (mixer arm link popped off.) With the weather here in North Dakota, I ordered parts but didn't put it back together until last month. The pack I flew I got maybe 3 or 4 minutes out of and the other 5 were untouched but fully charged.

I didn't have a charger that would discharge at that time so they sat here, for 6 months. For the last month, I couldn't pick the 1 pack out that sat there for 6 months from the other 5, they all read the same on the charger when I go to put back juice and the worst pack is 0.08 volts out of balance when I'm done flying. These stats rarely even change by a hair.

Maybe good batteries, maybe "storage" means something longer than 6 months. I dunno, but I like my Kong Powers.
