I finally did it. This past Sunday, being too lazy to take the 3 minute drive to the fairgrounds where I normally fly I decide to do a little in the back yard and promptly put her down IN THE POOL!! I don't know how I did it it all I know is that it happened and that Hurricanes (at least mine) don't like water. Thankfully the solar cover was on the pool. She went in nose first at 45 degrees. Chopped the cover up enough to let about half of the frame (at 45 degrees), and everything attached to it, go under the surface of the water. The only damage that I see is the ESC which shorted out big time and possibly the RX. The RX works sporadically so I think it may just need to dry out. The servos and gyro are ok. My questions are do you think the bearings are ok? If they went under, and if they are stainless, I would think so. The stock motor may have gone under also but I don't know enough about them to know that if they dry out, and are powered back up, if there is the potential for a short that may blow out the new ESC. The lipos are not puffed. If they check out within the normal voltage range I would think that they would be ok as well. Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Dry out everything you can.....the motor should just pull apart and there are no real moving parts except bearings......
Oil all the bearings and they should be OK.....Batteries should be OK also....
Yesterday I was "tracking in my NEW CF blades and resetting my Gryo after repairs....so I hover the heli on a BIG piece of cardboard so it will swivel easy and I can see which way I need to adjust......WELL....I'm in a hover checking tracking.....and the wind gets under the cardboard and WHAPPPPP!! right into my NEW blades :Fan
Man what an awful sound !! Luckily I just shredded the carboard and so far i see no real damage.....this is after my $100 repair from the #$#%#% spider !

I would be tempted to give the bearings a good going at with WD-40 (the WD stands for Water Dispersant), and try and dry them out as well as possible.

Yes - WD40 is good for that. Just remember WD40 is not a lubricant, so after everything dries out lube all the bearings with Tri-Flow or something like that.

This is what happen to me on my second hover and got a little too cocky over the pool. :arggg: Fortunately I did not have to go fishing.

If your pool is of the fresh water variety it is just a matter of drying your motor out and relubing or replacing the bearings. If your pool is a salt water pool then you will need to wash everything down thoroughly first then dry out. I'd be very tempted to replace the receiver even if it looks like it is going to work. You don't want that letting you down. Like the others have said - lube up your bearings. You may have shortened there life but you will hear them getting noisy first.
Good luck

Thanks to everyone for the information. I ordered a new Hurricane w/ESC and motor. Built it using the completed tail assembly from the original machine. I installed an identical replacement receiver taken from my Eco 8 ( Graeme67's logic makes sense). Now I figure I've got replacement parts available from the original heli, a somewhat newer machine ( I noticed the ESC is clad in dark plastic and the motor is now in a chrome housing, for what that's worth) and it fly's great. Thanks again.
