Hi, would anyone know where to get or what type of turbine fuels can be purchased in Canada? I believe I can get the Coleman PowerMax at the local Canadian Tire store. If I can find "Jet" fuel. Can I use regular Kerosene mixed with Turbine Oil? On that note, were could I find the turbine oil?
Thanks!

I have been using Kerosene from the local gas station for the last three years.
For Turbine oil, you typically have to go to your local small airport, we call it an FBO, that caters to small jets for refueling and minor maintenance. They will have the oil that is used to service the engines.
You will want either BP 2380, or aeroshell 500, or the equivalent.

I'm sure most clumsy aircraft mechs would accidentally spill some turbine oil into a safe container for you. Heck, you may even find someone doing fuel samples.

Hi Deron -
How is it going, eh?
Here is a place I get Aeroshell 500 http://oilstore.stores.yahoo.net/aerturoil500.html good prices.
Regarding fuel,
I use JetA because I have my own full scale aircraft at a local FBO, hover in, fuel the 206 and then fill the can in the backseat - just kidding, I take my own 5 gal cans and fill at the POL area and leave room for the turbine oil.
Now JetA is hydro-treated for anti acid, anti static but Chris is right that local Kero / Diesel now is treated and filtered so well it could pass as JetA. Seen the pricer per gallon lately?
Hope this helps -

Thanks Ron,
I'll get the oil from them. Their prices do seem good and they ship to Canada with UPS... I may order a case since USP has a hefty brokage fee. I think a case should last me a while :-)
I'll see what I can do about the Kero... this isn't the same kerosene people use in lamps, and camping stoves etc. is it?
Cheers,
Deron

Yes it is!! It's usually designated K-1.
Not "White" gas, but kerosene.

Cool. That should be easier to find. Thanks Chris.

If ya ever need help turning Jet-A into noise in that 206, lemme know.. I'm commercially rated and always looking for turbine time. :)
