Hi guys,
I realize this is the Bergen forum, but most of you are here and I need an opinion...

"I'm I insane or just stupid?".

Why do I ask? Well last night I paid Ron Ballard for a new Wren Heli Turbine engine and gearbox, and I just now bought a used (but really good priced) Predator 90 with full metal upgrades!

I HAVE 3 HELICOPETERS ALREADY

What's with this hobby?! Why can't one be enough? :bawl

Is this common?!

Thanks for your input.

BTW... I'm taking Heli lessons from one of Canada's top 3d pilots. He teaches about 5 minutes from where I live, and I figure I need to sharpen up my skills.

Normal ... well now that I think about it that is abnormal ..... you only have 3 :smokin::hug::oops::rolling

This hobby is worse than drugs of any type .:noteworthy:arggg:

And actually I would say they are more rabbits than peanuts ...as they just keep multipling in the work room .... I come home from work and another one is in there ....:thinking:YeaBaby:

Let me see if I can help -

I have more than I can fly on a weekend and I have a perfectly good Bergen Turbine with a new engine in the box that I look at every once in a while and give it a spin.

You bought a Predator instead of a Bergen. That answers part B of your question. If you dispute this, you have answered part A.

Ok ok -

I will take some pics of it being treated very gingerly and post them for you so that you see all is good and you will not have to call TPS on me "Turbine Protective Services"

LOL... if things had gone my way, I would have bought the Bergen Intrepid. That was my first choice and what I had planned to do. By things changed along the way and I had to do it this way.

Gentlemen,

Keep up the good work! Your efforts are helping to save an endangered species from extinction - the British Engineer. And in the case of those of you who are Bergen owners too, the US American Engineer. In a modelling world which has become increasingly dominated by the Far East, these rare breeds need your support. Thank you very much.

Thanks Sara...

I've spoken/emailed with Sara over the last few weeks as well as with Ron. Because of their great support and patience in answering my questions I decided to use a Wren engine and gearbox for this project.

I decided to go with a predator airframe because I figured I could get one cheap (and I did) and I knew that I wasn't re-inventing the wheel. As I mentioned, I would have preferred to go with the Bergen Intrepid kit, but things didn't work out as I had planned and I discovered I had less money to spend on this project then I had originally thought. I suppose I could has asked Chris if he sold just the airframe, but I doubted I could get it for $500.00

In addition, I like to tinker. I have a small machine shop at home so for me the building and design aspects are as much fun as the flying. BTW... I'm a so-so pilot, which is why I'm taking lessons from Darren Christopher. Not bragging, just want to make sure I don't crash this beauty once I get her airborne.

I should probably take this thread to the Turbo forum, but everyone that has answered my questions and have been so helpful when I was investigating this project fly Bergens and are here. If I put twin tanks on my Heli, could I post here too? ;).

Anyway... thanks everyone. You're all a great bunch of people!

Cheers
Deron

As long as you use red twin tanks and use the Bergen red / orange and white color canopy and it will be o.k.

Just kidding .... we will still answer your questions here ... probably more so than on the turbo forum :hug:

Deron,

Yes, you are insane for getting a turbine:lol: I have a Bergen Turbine and I can attest to my total insanity. The Wren is a good power plant. I agree with Larry though you will need to dress up your bird in Bergen gear, that way you'll at least look the part.:YeaBaby:
