Hi, when eliminating tail wag on a heli is it a combination of reducing the gain of the gyro using the gyro gain adjustment program in the transmitter and the gain trimmer pot on the gyro to find the max gain spot with no wag or do you use one or the other. Should the gyro trimmer pot be set to max gain and then reduce the gain percentage using the transmitter? I'm just not quite sure of the best way to set gyro gain to stop tail wag. thanks

What gyro?

Hi, the gyro is a telebee with just one adjustment pot on it for gain.

When you have both gyro plugs installed in a receiver, the adjustment is just from the transmitter and the gain on the gyro is disabled. exactly the opposite if you do not have the gain plug in the receiver.

thank you for your reply. I finally figured that out and you have clarified it. thank you. I have a question that maybe you can help me with. If I have my GEAR travel limit which is the remote gyro gain sensitivity set to +35% in HH mode and there is no tail wag using this gyro then when I switch to rate mode does that have to be a minus value like -35% or what ever minus value gives the best stability? After my last crash I want to make absolutely certain that I understand this particular gyro setup with this radio. thanks

use whatever value in rate mode that gives no tail wag. those are pretty good little gyros. you may need tro retrim the rudder servo after a few minutes as they tend to drift a bit a the gyro heats up to operating temperature.

Thanks, the HDX 300 build video on tail and gyro setup here uses the same gyro I got and was very useful also. found it by accident. I'm setup properly now. Thanks

Wag can come from other things as well. Too much or too little throw on the tail. Sloppy tail bearings. Interference on the gyro. Belt too tight.
If nothing seems to stop the tail from wagging, it's time to ask for help. But, in general, the Telebee (and most HH gyros) are failrly simple to set up.
If you tell us the exact setup, we can help more. TX, RX, gyro, tail servo, heli, and any mods you may have done.

Hi, as far as the heli goes it is a copterx 450. I'm using a Spectrum DX6 tx witha AR 6000 rx. I'm using inexpensive servos, towerpro sg-90's for the tail and mix. I should probably use a faster servo for the tail I think. I watched all the finless videos and thought I had the tail set up right but I'm still uncertain. I set up the rudder servo in the rate mode and got it at 90 degrees. I set the rudder travel to 100% in l/r. the slider is centered, same amount of shaft on both sides. I switched to HH mode and was getting creep so I adjusted the rudder travel limit subtrim in HH mode until the creep was gone. I had the GEAR travel limit to 45% in HH mode but I was getting wag so I reduced it 5% at a time til the wag was gone. It's at 30% now. I think I need to test for wag also in the rate mode but I haven't done that yet. does this sound like the correct proceedure? I think that once I get it hovering hands off for a few seconds I'll see how much trim I had to use and adjust the links to get the trim back to neutral . I s this the right way to set up the heli? thanks
