Anyone flying the new GY611 on thier 14MZ ?? My 601 is acting funny and has a tail drift that I cant get rid of, not sure but I think the sensor on the Gyro is on the way out.
I noticed the new 611 is out and before I just buy a new Gyro I was wondering if it has any issues.

Why would you suspect that the sensor is failing? I mean, instead of the servo?

I have 2 brand new servo's and they both do the same thing ..

Did you try replacing the gyro tape under the sensor? (sorry for stating the obvious.)
That being said... Heck, just get the 611 and let us know. I've been looking for a user review of the 611 myself... without success so far.

The 611 is better about vibe issue as the sensor is updated. Most of the time a drift is caused by vibration, but it can also be caused by a sensor going bad. Generally the servo either works or does not. Also when powered up it is a good idea to try to move the servo wheel both directions and see if you can turn it. You should not be able to override it with moderate pressure. If it turns rather easily (I have seen a few) the servo motor is going out.
I have 3 GY611's and all are working well with the 14MZ. The only issue that I have tracked done in another persons machine was tail drift and we traced that back to a bad engine rear bearing. Changed the bearing = drift gone.

Eric
can the unit be sent back to Futaba to get serviced? I have 3 601's and I'm noticeing some drift in one of them. I changed out the bearing to a ceramic one but I still get it. I'm going to pull te engine and rebalance the fan and redial indicate it just to make sure. I've had them for some time now so I would like to have them checked out.

Yes you can and they can do a drift test on them. If the sensor is going bad they can usually tell with their tests.

I'm running a 611 w/9256 ... holds like a rock!

I have a 601 with the 14Mz. Flew on a 9Z before. The 9Z held fine with the 601, the 14Mz showed some drift on the 601. I only flew the bird a couple of times so have not diagnosed the problem yet.
So in my case the only change in the system was the transmitter and the gyro started to drift a very small amount. I will learn more after this Saturday, if it doesn't rain.

Under what conditions are you guys experiencing the drift? A stable hover, FFF, backward flight? Does it happen right after a pirouette? Does it drift in normal mode? Want to try to reproduce, but want to make sure I'm looking at the right configuration.

Mine drifts in any mode. I think it's a high speed Vibe problem though. I'll have to pull the engine and redo everything. If that doesn't work then I'm sending it in to get serviced.

I experienced my drift in stable hover, Normal mode, 1650 Headspeed on a Raptor 50 running a GV-1 which was active at the time.
