Im running a TT36 and its always hot, Was advised to run 15% oil. Is this enough. (raptor V2 30, 5% nitro).

Thanks

Why not just richen the mixture a bit?

Generally 18% oil is the recommended minimum.

Ive been using 15% with 5% nitro. Was talking to someone today and it would seem 18% might be the answer.

Here's a link to Wildcat fuels. They offer a high performance helimix with 23% synthetic oil and also a mix with 18%.

Remember, not only does the oil lubricate, it cools the engine by absorbing heat and carrying it out the exhaust. I say a post recently where someone was leaning his engine to eliminate so much oil at the exhaust.....and....of course his engine overheated.

I use Cool Power 15% Nitro with 18% syn oil...and to that I add a bit of klotz to make the oil level 22-23%. Engine never overheats. Now I'm not doing 3D flying so demands on my engine aren't excessively hard.

Forgot the link:

on that note about cooling, these aren't like cars where the cylinder head is exposed, the head is up in a shroud with only a fan to cool it, i personally consider 18% to be the minimum. i use coolpower 30% high performance heli blend, and i believe it has 23% oil content.

fwiw, i've been using a mix from www.scottgrayrc.com faq
works for me...i'm not a 3d pilot---yet...ken

5. What fuel do you run for 3D? I noticed you have less smoke than some other guys.

I use Cool Power 30% High-performance heli (pink color) mixed in equal parts (1:1) with Cool Power 12.5% heli (purple color). The result is about 21% nitro and multi viscosity blend of oil. The CP30 contains thin oil in high percentages, while the 12.5% heli has less quantity of oil, but it is thicker viscosity. This blend produces the SAME power as CP30%, but has less smoke and is easier to tune! Not to mention the cost is down because you can buy the less expensive 12.5% and mix with the CP30. I do not recommend the low oil blends that some manufacturers offer in order to have less smoke. The price you will pay is often rear bearings and piston rings in your engine as it is not protected enough. As a note, I use this 50/50 blend of fuel in all my helis 30 size, 50, and 90.

although thats interesting, how is cost DOWN when you buy Both 30% and 12.5% to mix them together?
