Several of the HS calculators have options for Eff %....
What do you think is a good average % when figuring rpms using the Z motors ?
Have any of you checked your HS with a tach to see where it fell vs what you thought you would have ?
I know TC, PC, Blades, and everything come into play, but I have been using 90% to "guesstimate" what I will have....
Is that too high...or low.....?
Any thoughts?

I get 2400 rpm measured with ESC on 100% and 500m RCP carbon (42/60/14), means 95% if I recall.

well i have the gaui hurricane 550 head speed calculator v1.1 and the way i have my heli setup it tells me at 100% efficiency i should be at 2,424 and i tached my heli at 2470... i use the rcp 500s

wow... that's pretty close to the calc numbers... Hmmm... I always used 95% efficiency... maybe I should change that a bit...

I got approx. 95% as well (100 % TC with kontronik Jive)
Gear ratio: 1 : 12.84
Measured voltage: 23 V under load
Calculated HS: 23V * 1100 / 12.84= 1970
measured HS approx 1900 (my tach got only 19 displayed, 100*)
APPROX. 96.4%
EDIT: I'm not sure if the word "efficiency" is used correct here.
IMO, I'm not getting 95% efficiency, I got only 95% of the calculated HS.
Efficiency is the the ratio "Output power / Input power" and this is more complicate to determine.

It really depends on what kind of blades you're using! I'm using a ratio of 1:12.71 with 1600kV Scorpion HK3026 and 7s A123 and get around 5min with 530mm SAB blades and 1950rpm. Nearly same set-up with Gaui motor and right ratio for 1950rpm and I only got around 3:30 to 3:45min. You can get around 7min with Gaui wood blades and this set-up... but way too much power for wood blades! Even mor flight time and much more agility with Blattschmied 475mm blades. But these blades are too small for my quit heavy set-up (around 2,5Kg).

I would not have imagined that blades alone would make such a difference.
Just switched to some CGT fibre blades from the woodies and can feel that motor doesn't bog as much but my HS and flight times have remained the same.
running 2X 3s 3300mah 14T pinion on Z20 motor. stock gearing.
Must agree with the efficiency thing ....how does one calculate this or should the manufacturer give this info ?
