The plastic tip has pulled off from my X9303 revealing a wire and what looks like a bullet. It came loose right above the knuckel. I don't think anything is loose from inside. Has anyone else had this happen? Is this something I should be concerned with replacing? The plastic housing reinstalls easily. Thanks for any help.

Yes, it happened to me also. Same thing. Mine just popped apart at a friction joint. Exposing the coaxial cable, connector and antenna. All of the parts looked good to my semi trained RF eye so I just slid the top part back on the exposed part and snapped it back together.
It worked fine, but I ordered and installed a new antenna anyway. I was concerned the old antenna housing might pop apart again. These kind of things usually break on me on the first day of a four day weekend or something similar. Then I am without a radio to fly with for two to three weeks. :P
A replacement antenna (http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=EFLH1058) is not much money and took me about fifteen minutes to replace.
