Hi Guys and girls the other week when the weather was on the poor side i decided to play with the mechanics in my raptor 50 v2 ... Some may say silly boy why not leave well alone.... Nah cant do that sorry So this is what i did
1, remove main blades 2, Unclip all links from swash inner ring. 3, Undo the head block bolt 4, Remove the complete head including bell hillier... All standard maintenance stuff so far eh .... Now for the good bit Take one complete Trex 600 head and reassemble.... Had to wait a week to fly but when i first took off it was scary the reason being tracking was a mile out but once corrected boy what a machine flies silky smooth and crisp.. Miles better than it was totally transformed the heli. Just thought id share that with you all.

i was looking into doing the same for my E550. i'm going with the stock set up for now, but when and if i upgrade, this seems like a good way to go. parts are readily available on rchover.com.

Trust me it will be the best mod you have ever done! I liked the trex 600 but it did get blown and buffeted by the wind. This flies as well if not better simply because the Raptor is heavier. I have also flown the Knight 3D i'd say in my humble opinion if its not as good its a damn close 2nd.

just curious...which swashplate is best for this set up?

One of the guys that works at my LHS did the same modification to his machine. He did it piece by piece though, so it cost him over $300.00. He changed everything above the
swash-plate. Personally, I can't see how the Align swash can be any better than the
Raptor swash so I wouldn't bother changing it - unless you're after uniform anodizing on the parts.

You didn't mention what you had to do to your Raptor to make the head fit onto the
main shaft.

The Raptor main shaft is .3mm larger in diameter than the 600N head - I know this because I bought a metal washout for a 600N to use on my Raptor and had to enlarge
the i.d. of the washout to make it fit. There was some other machining in addition to
the i.d. enlargement, but I like to do that kind of work so I didn't mind the time involved.

Isn't the trex600 120 CCPM? And the raptor is the old style mechanical CCPM?
