First I would like to say hi to all the folks here and that I have been trying to search all around this forum for the answer but I cannot figure out the problem I am having. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Problem:

I have a raptor 30, It starts up, and idles just fine, it even hovers a 3 inches off the ground fine. But when I bring the helicopter in the air, maby ( 2-3 feet) It starts shaking really BAD!! I mean it shakes the training gear and the whole heli is just SHAKING. It still flys but this obviously isnt right.

Possible problems I was thinking that could cause this but Im not sure of how to go about this or to how to fix it. So I would love anyones help if possible. Its kinda driving me crazy.

Problems I Was Thinking:

1. Blades were bad, so I bought brand new ones today. Unfortunatly that didnt solve the problem and it still shakes.

2. Tracking, It looks like the tracking on the blades are out of track. But heres the thing. I do not know how to adjust it.
because the control arm (blade grip) looks like it theres a bit of loose play in them. Is it suppose to be like this????? Im not sure.

Could that be the problem? If so how do I fix this? I tried tightning the nut inside but that didnt help. Shim the bearing some how maby?

3. Fly paddle? Looks a little crooked. They are the same length when mounted.

Hi Nguyen!

How is your head speed?? it may be a little low.

Or maybe a bent spindle or main shaft.

Normally, it's cause by an overspeed of Headspeed WITH wood blade from thunder tiger.

First, look your tracking to be as good as possible

Second, try to slow the engine à little bit when you do hovering on your throttle curve. Do you think you engine run fast or slow in RPM ( the sound of engine is High or loud ???)

Come back with these try, to see if this should correct the problem!!!

Tried cutting 2 inches or so off each training u/c leg ? are your blade bolts too tight ? just firm is all you need for learning ...... the book tells you how to adjust tracking .....

Look in your Raptor's manual!!! How ajust the tracking is write at the end of the manual. Are you using the default wood blade from Thunder tiger??? Don't tie too much the nut who hole the blade in blade grip. You must have a little bit gap to easier close your blade togheter for the transport.

Try this and come back with a post to stay informed. We have other solution after if this is don't resolve the problem. But, we need to processe by elimination.

Good luck!!! :thumbs-up2:

Did you put the thrust bearing in the right way! in the instructions they tell you what is the right way. The inside hole of both sides of the bearing are not exactly the same and it might not seat right when the bolt is tite.

As for tracking adjustment, pick one blade then you have to either screw or unscrew the link that goes from the blade grip to the linkage. Keep track of the number of turns as you may need to go back.

Wooden blades are harder to get to track as they have some flex but with patience you will get it right. Also if you ever change blades you may need to retrack the blades.

Also the blade grip bolts must be loose anough to allow the blade to autocenter while spinning but tite anough to keep it from folding while at idle and preventing the rotor from spinning or causing a boom strike.

As for the vibration it may come from the play in the main grip or that you dont have anough rotor RPM. Adjust throttle curve to get more rotor RPM before you get to hovering pitch.

Balancing the blades is also a must if you have wooden ones, as it may not be Ok. Look in youre book for the correct procedure as it is complex to post.

Hope this helps.

Guys, thanks for all the help and input.

The problem was generated by loose blades. Tightened them and now it is solid as a rock in flight.

thanks again for all the help.

Nice to see this forum is so helpful.
