not level.. you sure you mean the washout? it has two pins going into it and should have two arms that connect to the swash

take a photo of what you mean.. would help

You mean the mixing arms that connect to the washout block are not perfectly horizontal? I wouldn't worry about it too much, as long as you're close enough in idle up. You can't really get them perfect with the stock transmitter.

Even so Rick, this machine is pretty sensitive and any perfection you can achieve in the setup, so much the better. It is one of the first things i look out for:
Tx on
Motor disconnected, then connect the battery
Set IDLE UP, move to 50% throttle [mid point]
Level the swashplate using the servo rods
Level the washout arms
Set the pitch of each blade to zero, and so on..........

If you get into good habits with this machine, you will not regret buying it...

No answer the question you possed... NO the washout arms will not be level in normal flight mode, only in 3d at mid stick.

I had this same problem recently. And i was getting a mixed response from people. One guy would say set it up in idle up and a neg -2,-3 pitch in normal mode at half stick would be fine. And then somebody else would say just set everything up at half stick in normal mode. So i have yet to be able to test out either as my motor died on me before i even got a chance. But thats what i was going to do just try both ways and see what worked best.

If you set up in 3d with everything even and switch to normal mode the washout arms will naturaly not be even anymore as in Normal mode at zero throttle you have -2 or so pitch and at mid stick you already have at least 3 degrees pitch so naturally it wil not be level in normal mode.

Only time it will be even and level in normal mode is when its at Zero pitch. someplace just below mid throttle.

Although they both sound a little confused, at least the first guy's method has a chance to actually base your settings on something... I mean, what on earth would you be looking for at half stick in normal mode? Some random pitch figure that he pulled off his setup, or his...

...um, mistranslated manual?

The procedure Mike outlined is the correct one. Use it and you'll avoid the problems you get with exotic pitch settings - poor tail power, unstable flight, power cuts, burnt ESCs... If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right.

Thanks guys for clearing up the confusion. i figured idle up made the most sense. But with the stock tx it made me second guess what i was doing with the setup.

Tom, I think the sticky makes it about as clear as it can be. The short version is, everything true and square, zero pitch, at mid stick in idle up mode, (motor disconnected). Everything thereafter just falls into place. I don't think there is anything more to it than that. Here is the long version.

Ya i am totally with it now. My initial confusion was why it came out in normal mode. And when i asked it on other forums the answer was never totally clear like you guys have delivered it. I don't why i never thought to look here for answers, i guess when i joined helifreak in dec. the belt cp section didn't seem to be what it is now. Of course all my friends from heliguy moved here and didn't pm me to let me know where they going. Ya bunch of buttheads. boo hoo hoo. I thought we were friends. boo hoo hoo.;)

Ha, yeh, sorry about that, I guess we all just thought it was common knowledge. There was such a big bust up at the end I just thought everyone must have noticed. I guess if you didn't check for a few days it could easily be missed. I guess you know the story by now though, but just to put this in as straightforward a manner as I can, it was all DierWolf's fault! :) Just being silly, sorry, it was actually the crazy rules they had over there and more to the point, well from my observation anyway, the incredible behaviour of one particular moderator. In my opinion he simply lost the plot, and went way beyond the remit of any moderator. Having done this he was then defended strongly by the site owner for "Only doing his job", which in my opinion was totally incorrect.

Anyway just glad you caught up with us. :)

I thought one of you said you were going to run ryder. So had been tinkering on that site off and on. Boy some of the bashing that goes on in the off topic section over there is hilarious. But i do remember what happen with the heliguy censorship issues, it was pretty crazy. Pilso still posts sometimes, but haven't seen rasputin for a while.

Many of us are banned from the other site, and even those of us who still have access can't leave a post or even a PM about the Freak or it disappears immediately.

More and more guys from the Lama Forum from the other site are stopping by here so the word is slowly spreading.

I got lucky and was able to read some of the posts from the other site before they disappeared so I was able to track the naughty boys down over here.

Dierwolf did the prep to get us set up over here. :)

oh wow i didn't no that. I thought you guys just up and left. I've told some people over there to check out this site per the finless vids. I've yet to get scolded for it yet though. When i posted it i was wondering if that was coming though. But helifreak doesn't sell anything so why would they care? The sponsered links that are on here?

Yep, that's it exactly, he believes that anything pointing to HeliFreak is competition for his shop.

Well first sorry to be flying way off topic. But i think i remember some of the main parts of the argument being 1.Heliguy doesn't sell everything people are looking for and 2.Nobody in the states would buy from them anyway but people in say the uk or europe. Yea thats pretty crazy, if you are so worried about it why have a forum on your site to begin with. Well i'll stop reiterating the obvious. But now im considering going over there and stirring the pot again. Any suggestions or ideas?;) As i am still in good standing.

Just try posting a link to the Freak. If you use a little trickery to get it past the censor, you can have fun seeing how long it takes for a Mod to "disappear it". If you do, post a link here so we can watch the fun! Ok, ok, I guess we really shouldn't harass them. Still...

Cool, I just tried posting a link on HG to here and it went right thru the censor. They must have changed something over there. Here's the link to my post over there, we'll see how long it lasts.
