Build went very smooth, only accident was over tightening a screw into a flybar arm. Build's very different from a TREX. Definitley a builders kit, I really appreciate the design, all parts and machining were perfect.
Just need to get the electronics on this and it's ready to fly.
120 CCPM
OS Hyper
MP5
Multigov (if I can find one)
770D gyro w/8900G tail servo
AR7000
align 2-1 or Reactor X (would like to run 8v)
8717x3
9252 throttle

I went with a Multigov and the ReactorX on mine, although I'm using 9452s on cyclic. Your gonna dig this machine! :YeaBaby:

I cannot wait to fly this thing.
I think the reactor x comes in tomorrow. I was lucky enough to find one at A Main hobbies.com, I have everything I need now except still waiting for a multi gov and one 8717. Hoping the JR 770 works as well as the Spartan as those are impossible to find as usual. I have heard good things so far... Spartan has to be loosing a ton of business with all the shortages..
Spent the last two days building a work bench in the garage to build and work on heli's.
Hopefully flying the vibe Sunday.

You're going to love how that thing flys.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
I'm going on week #4 of staring at my bare airframe on the bench...
770 is a great gyro, I have one on my 600N, you'll love it.

I'm happy with my 770/8900g, I would definitly buy another. Very easy to set up.

You aren't the first person to tell me that;)
I won't do that, too much work, though tempting.
IF I have a horrendous crash that nearly totals it, then I'd probably transfer the equipment over. But for now I'm leaving it intact.

Check it out guys, got my garage cleaned out so I have more space to build. Girlfriend was getting tired of the gas and oil stains and heli parts in the living room.
Electronic install going ok so far. Trying to figure out how to setup the Reactor X and Switchglo and waiting for 1 more 8717 from Readyheli. Should be here today.
Do you guys think that my 9252 servo will work ok with a Multigov?

It will work but its over kill to use an 70 dollar servo, a 3151 or something will work just fine.

Brandon, your right on everything except the first heli in the left is actually a Blade 400. Bigger is better man, go get a VIBE!
Now of course I can't get my to start, I still have to figure out this darn switchglo.

Karl,
What problem are you haveing with the switchglow? The way I set it up in the Raptor was to take the red wire to the glow plug (mine had an aligator clip) and the black wire grounded to the motor mount. Then I plugged it into the RX and assigned the channel to my throttle hold switch. Kind of cool since it forced me to be in throttle hold to start the heli.

I did exactly that except for the moment is set to my AUX2 channel. I ordered a GV-1 yesterday so that I can rn it through the mixture output on the governor.
I tested the glo and when I hit aux2 I get glo so I know it works however I went through an OS8 plug in one day. So I wonder if the Switchglo is hard on glo plugs? Anyway the OS 50 hyper is having a hard time with cold starts.
Today it took almost 10 minutes to get it started. I know my idle and throttle servor/connections are setup perfect. Throttle at 0 stick and middle trim is a perfect idle w/o engaging the clutch.
Also my brand new MP5 pipe actually backfired on startup yesterday, I have never seen that before.
I also wonder if it could be a low needle setting on the hyper... ?

Did you ever get it running? I hate to say this but the only time I had a Hyper backfire it never did start. I took off the pipe and saw that the piston had broke just above the ring land. Hope thats no th case with yours.

Yeah after about 10 minutes it just suddenly turned over and ran perfect. I was able to hover and make some adjustments. Had to turn the 770 Gyro down to -60/60 and it tracked and hovered perfect with 0 trim adjustments. Just a beautiful flying machine. Just hope the OS 50 starts from now on.
The only thing that made me nervous is Piro rate. It was way to fast. I did a stationary piro and it whipped around in a blur. The 770 manual recommended 150 rudder with 55 expo and I reduced my rudder to 125 and still way to fast.
What do you Vibe 50 owners with 770 gyro set for your rudder gain?

Hello, I just received my Vibe 50 and was woundering about the Gear setting to give the G-1 gov when the magnets are installed in the clutch housing? Any advice will be great!!

The gear ratio is 8.7:1 so you should enter 8.70 to the GV-1.

Yep. The clutch bell is rotating the same speed as the engine, fan, and clutch when the motor is up to speed (or you have other problems :D) so just plug in 8.7 and away you go.
Very nice arrangement, you don't have to fiddle with wires to drop the motor, and unlike the 600n, sensor mounting is a piece of cake.

So I figured out the reason why the OS 50 wouldn't start... somehow the crappy paper gasket I used on header got sucked into the MP5 clogging it up.
I replaced it with an Align pipe that actually comes with a proper gasket and all is good. Watch out when making your own gasket that this doesn't happen to you.
BarracudaHockey
06-12-2008, 05:13 PM
You'd be better off just ditching the gasket completely.

I'm with Andy on this one. I don't use a gasket between the motor and pipe.

Interesting, I currently have the align gaskets in there and it works fine. Wish I would have known this before the MP5 got destroyed. Maybe I can send it in for repair.
