Edit** next shipment do on 6/10/08****

I was able to get another shipment of Dewalt A123 36v packs ordered and they are do in on tuesday 5/27. Again as before these are comming directly from Dewalt and are "used" from their test lab they might be warrenty returns or just packs they pulled and tested. I have been told they may have between 10 and 100 cycles on them and most of the modules are bad so they will have 1 or 2 cells with low voltage. In the last batch I did get one dead cell in the 9 packs I opened but the rest charged fine, unless any of the guys who purchased any from the last batch post here they also got bad cells?? so far I haven't heard they have, but I am selling these as is unopened untested and I will assume they might have 1 bad cell.

price per pack will be $90 shipped in the US, and $100 to Canada
Oversees ask for a quote depending where probably in the $110-120 range, I shipped 2 packs to Australia and shipping was $44

I am in the process of getting set up as a "recycler" with them so I hopefully will have these on a monthly basis.

more due in on 6/10

Can you tell me about the cells inside, do they have solder tabs, what is involved in pulling the cells apart?
I have been thinking about some A123's so i might just try one..
Since I would be using only 4s, I could get 2 packs from them

their are many good posts on building packs from them, it is really very simple. worst part is openng them up. they use a safety torx screw, a torx with a center saftey which is supposed to need a special tool to remove but the screws are very soft so a normal torxs works just fine, you just need to give it a tap or 2 with a small hammer to flatten the center. then you pull of the top, cut the wires from the module and then lay out the 10 cells to see how you want to configure them. the tabs are spot welded on and it is easyest if you need them removed to just cut them in half so each cell would still have a tab for easy soldering. these cells will generally need balanced before assembly.

Step by step, picture by picture on how to take the packs apart: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=587606

How to solder them up and build packs:

They are going up in price every few months due to supply and demand. I think retail stores sell them for about $12-14 per cell. So here you are getting them for $8 per cell. pretty cheap, as long as you are willing to do the work your self.
