View Full Version : K3D Blades & Paddles?

I'm just curious to see what blades & paddles you guys are running.

I'm personally running 610mm rotortech 3D's with 80mm v-paddles. It's pretty arrow-straight in fast flight and the cyclic is faster than I need so I toned it down a little and knocked the headspeed down a little. There is not a lot of inertia left in the blades at the end of an auto, though.

The stock paddles had a bit of a pitch-down tendency for me in fast flight with v-blades. I didn't try them with the rotortechs.

I'm using the stock paddles and Standard Radix 600mm main blades. I sport fly for the most part and these blades are a real winner.

radix SBs and stubz... mental but accurate

Try on a set of Radix blades, that will give you much more inertia in autos yet still work the cyclic well in 3D.

Ade - how is that combination in fast flight?

I3DM - The rotortechs auto fine for me but I don't think I would suggest them to anyone learning how to do autos. Aerobatic autos are wonderful, they spool up quick and are more forgiving of poor collective on the way down (compared to V's), there just isn't a lot of hang time at the bottom for those that are learning to auto.

tiny bit of pitch up when you really getting it moving fast (vertical falls) other than that its fine you defo need the weights all the way out tho.

only downside of the stick bangers is they dont auto as well as the stock radix 600s

I have the stock paddles and have a pair of "RADIX600" and a pair of "ROTOR TECH 600mm CARBON FIBER ANGLE TIP MAIN BLADES". Both are great. I am still a newbie in autos, but to me the Rotor Tech Auto have much more energy left when i land my autos. I even think that they are a little bit heavier on the outside to enhance autos, but thats my own impressen when comparing the two in my hand. (might be crap but thats how i feel them).

I am no prob but i really love thos blades compared to my other ones i have.

I'm Running stock paddles with Silver Funky Glass Fibre blades... people at club now confinced me to go with CF cause they say i abuse the funky's to much and scared they might fail in flight.

the Funky's auto like charm (learned on them) and FFF no pitching at all (well, not anything i can remember). Roll rate insane fast.. loving K3D more and more!

Ahh, Ade, I forgot those paddles came with weights. I hear so many people running those stubz without any weights, and I think to myself that they have got to fly like crap that way! But with weights, I can see that they could be good.

Max - I think those 600 mm rotortechs are heavier than the 610 3D blades and as such will have more hang time at the end of autos. The 610's I'm using are these - great blades but just not for learning how to auto:

im running the stock k3d paddles and align 600d blades. my best performing blades so far are the new sab600's and the ghobee 620's were a close 2nd. i get aligns for a deal of a price so i cant complain.

liaan, dont worry about those silver funky's been abusing those hard up until the stick bangers showed up, excellent blades for the money and will tak the abuse so dont worry!

About the only consistency I see is that nobody is using v-blades.

I've been using the Gohbee 620's, a little harder to run the higher headspeeds without bogging, but they auto like a 90.
Hang time forever!!
I'd like to see a 8:45 ratio instead of the 8:6 for the longer blades, but I won't lose sleep over it.
I have Radix 600's coming if I can stay put for a week or so.
