View Full Version : Gyro Placement

I bought the kit from flying-hobby and they gave it an initial setup, but they put the gyro on the bottom between the landing skids. My first thought was that it needs to move, but my servo wire is only about 4 inches long so it can't go far. I looked at a lot of pics of your setups and saw that many people put it on the battery tray, so I thought I would put it on top of the bottom plate. Then I realized that I could not get to the switches or pots to change anything, so it is still on the bottom. do I need to get some kind of extension chord for the servo to reach (I did see some with what looked like an extension)?

On a semi related note, what about the weight? I have read some people saying that weight is not a problem and that this bird will be fine with a couple extra grams, but how much is too much? Mine weighs 272g, so I bought the 9g canopy and will by a lighter receiver as mine came with the 13g Spectrum 6200. It has also been argued that the lighter it is the more stable it is as it is better able to control the weight.

And lastly I figured I would tell about a source for parts in the states that is competitive with flying-hobby on the prices, but blows them away in shipping. All d RC (http://www.allerc.com/index.php?cPath=24_127) shipped all this stuff for $4.99:

Which gyro do you have? Which servos? Most gyros have several inches of wire. I had to shorten mine they were to long. You can get servo extensions if you have to.

I put my 2100T on the bottom tray, right behind the battery.

I put my Spartan DS760 directly under the main shaft on the bottom tray.
