OK, after fiddling through everything for 6 hours, I still can't get the servos to move correctly. Everything worked perfectly before attaching the AP2000 as I have been flying it recently.

It's gotten to the point now where I've changed so much, I have no idea what is up and what is down, lol. What I need is a very detailed explanation, from the beginning of time, as to how to setup the 9303 2.4 to work with the AP2000. I know the Swashplate is an SR-3, but I have no idea what is servo1, 2 or 3 and I don't know what is supposed to be NORM vs REV and whether that should be changed at the transmitter or the AP2000. I've changed the radio to 1Servo as the swash, but the swashplate is definitely NOT moving like it should be.

So, I'm offering up $150 to anyone who can write up a detailed explanation as to how to get this all to work together from a "blank slate" - soup to nuts.

Any takers?

TIA!

I was going to say that Mark Webber has a good AP2000i setup on his site, it's worth a read for sure!

( I don't even have my AP2000i yet [damn money] and I'm pretty confident in setting it up after reading Marks work!)

But otherwise BullaCulla is pretty clued up on these things.. I'd listen carefully to any wisdom he passes on.

Plus he's a good guy, and have you seen his AP setups? - FAN-Freakin-TASTIC!

Thanks Kiwi :)
I have mine setup so the left slider controls gain, from off all the way to 98% and the toggle controls on-off-calibrate. So AP2Ki can be turned off with the slider, or with the toggle. Lately i've been flying without it because i'm trying not to rely on it too much for smooth flying. I'm documenting everything now, so if Carguy wants, he can have a carbon copy of my setup.

Thanks Kiwi :)

All good, I might be bugging you in the future. I've got my 600 being built, plan on doing some basic AP-like stuff. Will be looking real close at your pics/posts.

How are you finding your 9303?

I went from a DX7 to the X9303. I love the JR radio. I only bought it so I can make full use of the AP2000i. The sliders are great for adjusting gain to where you want it. Also it has 5 flight modes. But, If I never got into AP, I would probably still have the DX7.
Here is some eye candy for you :D my two stretched 600s swinging 690s

they are both flying so nicely right now that I dont want to touch them :o
I just made some dampers for the nose mount, and I cant find any shakes even on my 52" HD Aquos :smokin:

For detailed writeup, please check here....www.webberaerialimaging.com/quickstart.html

Send check/mo to....j/k;)

Failing that, you can always call me at 440-336-8315. Have heli/tx ready. We'll be done in 15min.:)

I second calling Mark Webber :noteworthy
I set mine up so long ago, I forget what the numbers mean :YeaBaby: Mark will help you understand what everything is. If you just copy my setup, then changing it to your liking will be hard. I will still give you my numbers if you like my setup tho.

Wow, you guys rock.

I did go through the quick setup yesterday, but made it only to step ~8.

However, I couldn't figure out from the diagram of the Trex which servo was supposed to be plugged into which port on the AP2000. And then I couldn't get the swashplate moving correctly at all...snowball..

If you don't mind, Mark, I'll probably end up calling you today, my area code is 781 just so you will know who it is. If you have a preferred time, please let me know.

bullaculla and kiwi, thank you for the offer, and sweet rigs!

On a trex, the servo that connects to the rearmost link is to be in the #1 slot (servo#1). The other two servos go into slots 2 and 3. It doesn't matter which but be sure you know so if they need reversing/trim, you will know which one to tweek.

Of course, you can sitll call.:)

Did you set your Tx to Mechanical mix??? It can't be transmitting CCPM to work correctly.

Hope getting the rest of it hooked up went well after we talked. I've gone through the menus on my 9303 to check out various programming options for you for the calibration mix. I've come up with a couple options for you to choose between.
If the rest of your system is hooked up, we can run through the programming pretty quickly. Let me know when would be a good time to get ahold of you and we'll knock this out.

Hey Mark,
Thanks again for your help, I meant to post earlier this week but time just slipped by me.

I talked to Mark on the phone last week and within about 10 minutes we had my setup all configured, I can't thank him enough or give him enough praise for his excellent customer service. On a Friday night no less!

Anyway, I've done a few flights on it, and it works great. I've noticed it takes a fair amount of gain, which from reading, is pretty normal I think (60+).

Anyway, just wanted to let you know!

The following was copied from this site for the otherr can't remember which but after getting my 600 and AP2000 setup, I programmed my 9303 following these instructions. It has work very well for me so far.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

AP2000i gain (sensitivity) & calibration set up for a JR 9303 transmitter on a Maxi-Joker 2

The gear switch is used to turn the GY401 heading hold function on and off. The AUX2 switch is used in conjunction with the right slider lever (AUX3) to control the AP2000i.

The way it works is as follows:
With the AUX2 switch in the forward or "0" position, the sensitivity of the Spartan is controlled between 30% and 87% by moving the slider through its range.
With the AUX2 switch in the middle or "1" position the range is from "OFF" to 75% depending on the position of the slider.
With the AUX2 switch in the aft or "2" position, the range is from "CAL" to 46% depending on the position of the slider.

To calibrate the unit, move the slider full aft with the AUX2 switch forward. This provides 30% sensitivity. When reaching a stable hover, calibrate the Spartan by moving the Aux2 switch to the aft position for one second. Return it to the forward position to resume 30% sensitivity or alternativly, just move the slider forward with the AUX2 switch still in the aft position. The AUX 2 switch can be used to select the range of sensitivity desired and the slider to fine tune the level. This setup has worked very well.

To set the radio up, do the following:
1. In the "DeviceSEL" menu, map AUX2 to the AUX2 SW and AUX3 to the AUX3 LEV. You will not be able to use a 7 channel receiver with this procedure. More channels are needed to accommodate the remap.

2. In the "TRVL ADJ. menu, set the travel of AUX3 to +50% and -129%

3. In the "PROG.Mix1" menu (see attached picture) AUX2 - AUX3 SW SELECT set the curve with "Point-0" to -100, "Point-3" to +18 and "Point-6" to +71. EXP is OFF.

4. Go to the MONITOR menu and observe how AUX3 moves in conjunction with the AUX2 switch and slider combination. This will illustrate the results. With the 9303 and AP2000i ON - observe the changes in sensitivity on the AP2000i display as you move the switch and slider combination."

Addendum:
I've seen some comments from folks who wanted to use the AP2000i at 100% sensitivity setting. Although I think the 0 to 87% range is all that is needed, to get 100% sensitvity from the AP2000i on the JR9303, it is only necessary to increase the range of travel of AUX3 from +50% to +65%. To effect this change, do the following:
In the "TRVL ADJ. menu, set the travel of Aux3 to +65% and -129%.
This should give the following sensitivity settings:

With the AUX2 switch in the forward or "0" position, the sensitivity of the Spartan is controlled between 30% and 100% by moving the slider through its range.
With the AUX2 switch in the middle or "1" position the range is from "OFF" to 83% depending on the position of the slider.
With the AUX2 switch in the aft or "2" position, the range is from "CAL" to 46% depending on the position of the slider.

Hope this helps.
Keith

^ That's what I ended up using for mine as well with I think very little deviation.

That's a bit more complicated that what I ended up with on my 9303 (L/H slider for 0ff-100% with Ele D/R for Cal) but if it's working for you, great.

I still can't believe what a pain the JR is for programming such mixes. Switch assignment sucks, to put it mildly.
