... forget to use Locktite.

Today I flew my beloved G 200 and I thought it had a "new sound" to it.

Brought it down for inspection, but could not find the reason.

Less that one pack later, I lost my tail fin in flight. I was able to land it in the grass - before I had quite realized what had happened - and no harm was done.

Yesterday, when I was fiddling with the heli, I realized that I had put the tail fin on backwards, and as I had my little screwdriver near by, I thought, why not make the tail right, right away. But - low and behold - I "forgot" all about Locktite.
(Wasn't near by)

On this little heli, never forget Locktite anywhere because it will vibrate itself to pieces before you know it, as it did when I first installed the metal tail upgrade, and did not let the Locktite "dry" or harden.

Good point Peter... they need constant checking and maintenance..
Another point about Loctite, when replacing blade grip screws, make sure to use only the minimum amount of loctite, and to ensure it has time to cure, otherwise the loctite will be forced into the grip bearings by centrifugal force, and sieze the bearings up

I always "turn the Locktite into the threads" with my fingers, so nothing is "sticking out of the threads" before I install any screw. But no screw goes metal-to-metal without Locktite on any of my heli's from now on.

But thanks for the comment - though. :)

On the blade-grip screws, I'll put a drop of Loctite on a toothpick and put it in the hole, not on the screw. This keeps it from getting on the tiny washer.

Good tips guys.

When I say the name of the thread, I was expecting some pictures of some carnage. Glad there wasn't any though. :)

Yeah, really,

Good job Pete,
you brought her home in good shape and taught us all something...
