I recently bought the new Synergy SE center block engine mount. I was thinking that there are questions that people might have before buying this part. I have read questions on forums like: Dose this part really help with fuel foaming? Dose it make the heli stronger? Why is it so expensive? Is it worth the money Will it change any of the flying characteristics of the helicopter? I am hoping to clear the air about some of these questions and give Synergy owners a better understanding of this part.

I have added pics so people can see what the part looks like and how well it is made. The engine block has a nice CNC machining finish and it looks like they tried to get most of the weight out while keeping all the strength and that takes more machining steps. The new mount is easy to install as you do not need to remove the engine. I removed the engine mount bolts to the center block and the fuel tank. With the tank and the fuel tank grommet removed you can slide the old mount out and install the new mount. There is a top and bottom to this part. The new engine mount should have the wider part towards the bottom of the heli. (See pic with mount installed) if you try to install the mount upside down it will be really close to the bevel gear. Also like the other mount you will need to keep the bolt pattern going in the right direction.

Next is the flight test. I had some fuel splashing in my tank before I had this mount. In normal mode my head speed is 1750 and this is when it was the worst. With the new mount in most of this is gone. In idle up 1 I run 1850. I had little splashing before so this RPM did not notice much difference. In Idle up 2 I run 1910. I had some splashing, but not as much as I did in normal mode. The new center block help here and was noticeable. The splashing has been cut down and the block has done its job, but there is more. One thing I should tell you is I am running an OS 91SZ pumped with an MP5. With the block installed there is a new noise. It is a new harmonic noise. This is from the new center block stiffing up the whole frame. After I installed the new mount I worked the frame and you can feel the frames are a little stiffer from flex.

The trade off is weight. My old mount weighs 29 grams. The new center mount weighs 44 grams. This is a 16 gram difference. Not to bad considering the new mount is much longer than the old mount. It is nearly twice the length.

I did not use the new SE side engine mounts as I did not have the money to get these right now. They look good and some day I hope to try these. Maybe there are people out there who have these and would like comment on them and how they work on there N9. This is a nice part to have, and it dose change the heli for the better. Hope this was informative for the people who don’t have this part and maybe thinking of getting it. Thanks Kevin

Man that SE when it comes out will have a high price, just judging from this upgrade.
I don't understand why this is so expensive.

There is a lot of machine work on this peice. The more the machine runs the higher the price. This peice is almost twice the size of the stock peice and yet it dose not weigh much more for the size. Hope this help clears things up.
