I did up my phazor in night blades and 4 light strings yesterday and had my first night flight last night.

There's something to this night flying. it's cool.can't wait to get some non rainy weather to try it again:)

I think the phazor is a good candidate for the night flying because of it's large frame and inherit stability.Being a newby at it i think a nice stable easy flyer will help my confidence.

And once i get used to it i will crak the headspeed back up and install the on edge dampers that are in the mail as we speak.

Once you get a couple of flights under your belt you will realize that night flying is more fun than day flying.

What about for learning, as a n00b? Half the problems people have come from not being able to see the heli correctly, especially on the smaller stuff like 450s and what not. I would imagine have a glowing disc out there and some different colored tail blades would make it even easier than day time. Anything to this train of thought?

imho, I think the drawback for the noob would be the crash cost of the blades. Even if the visibility were considered better the blades are much more expensive because of the embedded LED's. For a noob with a fat pocket book perhaps, but for most I think a good ole day ship is the way to go. just my 2 cents.....

Night flying is way cool though...:smokin:

I agree with David.
While orientation might be easier on a well lit night rig, the crash costs are close to double, and then you may have to relearn stuff when you do finally come out into the light.

Then there is setup, a night ship must still be flown in the light for proper setup before it can be flown in the dark.

Daytime also makes it easier to find all of the parts after a mishap.

7 night flights so far so good.

it's kind of eery sometimes ,the blades seam to make more noise at night,i know it's my imagination, but i sure can make them talk. suprissed the neaghbors havn't said anything, probably think it's cool to.

Last night i had people pulling over and parking to watch on the road in front of my house.I guess they thought it was cool.

my hope is to really extend my flying time once daylightsaveings time goes off again.
I'm sure i'll have at least 3 or four helis in night trim by then.
