Ok... not a Gaui, so a bit off topic, but since it's been mentioned in this forum SEVERAL times, and being that we are all in the no compensation needed club... this little guy is about as small as it gets.

So I broke down and got the Walkera 4#3B, it just arrived today.... this is the 2.4ghz version with cnc head. It was from ehirobo for 99 bucks! http://www.ehirobo.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=5874 well plus shipping over seas, but still not a bad deal at all.

So verdict... Awesome heli. Don't get me wrong though, it is one hell of a hard heli to fly. It seems to have a mind of its own... here is a video of my 4th pack through, so still trying to get used it, but finally worked up the courage to "try" some nose in. I thought the gaui 200 was a handful, this thing is just a death wish waiting to happen.

So why awesome review? It's tiny and I can fly inside! No, it's not the easiest thing to fly, but what an awesome heli, keeps me on my toes. I think once I get a little more used to how it flies, it will be fun to practice some spot landings and buzz around the house. Through the 4 packs so far, I've crashed 4 or 5 times... once I touched a wall, and it fell 4 feet down to the carpet... no damage what so ever! Then I managed to kamikaze at high speeds right into a lamp shade, fell a few feet... and no damage as well! And then smashing into thing here and there, falling to the floor like a rock, was certain that something broke... but no damage. The rudder gets some used to, it doesn't hold all that well and changes trim as the battery level changes... so it's flying the tail all over again, not like the gaui :) But the hardest part for me to get used to, is mostly when you turn left, you have to be pretty easy, otherwise it piros all the way around pretty quick on ya.

Anyway, great heli, not for a beginner, but a great little guy to practice inside! Can't wait for the battery to recharge to fly again!

i think larry could use some lessons..he he he... that looked like a risky place to fly. i would have a heart attack if i tried that. you have alot of toys, i envy you. one thing i noticed was the corner cabinet. is that plexi glass? lol.:)

Yeah too many toys... and that's not even the steam stuff that are over taking the garage... the cabinet is glass.... this thing is so small & light that it won't do any damage to anything but itself, and so far it hasn't done that, I'm rather amazed! Yeah really tight space and risky, but fun to practice slamming into things lol :)

Yeah, Rotor, I'm on it.

Crimeny, I just never got the old 4#3 sorted out, tried.
Thanks for the recent post on this, I just don't want to go back to Walkyland just yet.

But now the Crabster's go it licked! <I pick smart friends, don't I...>

Oh man I am so excited! i ordered mine on tuesday and should be here tomorrow, (UPS says its in Alaska) your vid just made the last 24 hrs of my wait alot more painfull. Ive been checking the ups website every 15 min as if theres going to be an update....

Crabfu have you taken a look at some of the mods on rcgroups? theres a few vids on youtube of 4#3s with mods and it looks like it really helps stability and what not. I was trying to find a few mods now so i could get strait to work when the little guy got here but theres 500+ pages to sort through!

Im thinking it might be time for HF to have a walkera forum. maybe something a little more organized?

Any way congratulations on the new addition to your fleet!

LOL yeah my eyes glazed over around page 2.... This is the B (metal) version, not sure if there are mods for it yet? I know there are some improvements in the design from the original 4#3, but I figured I'd fly it stock first and see if I can get used to it, and then I'd know what I don't like, and look for mods to fix that :) So far it's a bit of getting used to, but I love it... it's not that stable, but I'm starting to get the feel of it. It's really not an easy heli to fly, but with a bit of practice, and with a heck of a lot of luck, it's been manageable... and really fun! I'm even doing hand launch and landing catches... lift off from the ground is rather exciting, haven't found the trick to it yet, but a hand launch seems to be working :) Anyway, this thing is indestructible... I've crashed many times now, some really hard ones into the floor, wall, furniture.... but still nothing broken, and nothing tweaked... crazy.

I HATE YOU PEOPLE! (kidding :) ) I'm going to go bankrupt, but I'll have a bunch of cool helis because of you guys!

I'm going to get one! I have to. I have the whole attic to myself at my house in the US, and it would be perfect to fly this thing.

Question for Crabfu:

1. How long does it take to charge the stock battery with the supplied charger.

Hmmm I didn't time it, but maybe 15 mins. Flight time is about 6mins. I have 2 packs, and charge one as I fly the other, so very little time for the hot motors to cool down!

my 4#3 2.4 is inbound from hong kong...ordered it last night...$119 + $19 s&h (looks like ehirobo is selling it for $89.99)...it will join my gaui200 and hbk2...great flyers...my only major gaui200 crash happened when i flew too long on a windy day, got it downwind, started to turn inbound, and the battery died in the turn...broken landing gear bow and spindle...replaced gear with cf assembly...i don't have a vid of me and my gaui200, but here's one of my hbk2 (our first attempt at video)...ken

i got one as well last week for "everyday living room use".....
not recommended for a beginner i must say,as crabfu said it has a mind of it's own!
well put, but still fun to fly.

as for mods and upgrades, here is the BL conversion thread:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=830186

only 80 pages.....:YeaBaby:

but not to worry,I've read them all...(took me 3 days)
all you need is read all threads from a guy called "the Steve" for instructions

and the parts sold here:

if anyone is interested i think i have saved him a lot of time......

I got it!! ive been flying it around the house all afternoon. i was actually surprised at how well it hovers, after reading up on it i was expecting some frisky little critter that needed to be put in its place every few seconds, but thats not the case. dont get me wrong it certainly takes some getting use too, and can get away from you pretty quick, but is still a very nice flyer and loads of fun. turning in forward flight has been the most difficult part for me so far. Ive crashed it a few times, it seems to like my antique armoire, so every time tthe little guy gets near it i cut the throttle. after hitting the hard wood from 5ft or so its fine and still flys great!

thanks for posting the link t-driver, ive been looking at the bl systems and im starting to wonder if the atomic mods bb motor for the micrto-t would be an improvement over stock. i looked into the bl system for the micro-t a while back and people where arguing that the BB motor with a lipo works almost as well and its a brushed system so all you have to do is swap it out. only problem is that i dont know any of the specs on the motor or even the stock 4#3 motor for comparison. but it might be worth the risk sense the BB motor is $15 shipped, it could potentially save a ton of money.

yea, cutting the throttle if anything get's in it's way is the best thing to do.
(that applies to the H200 too)
even if it hit something or it is 3 meters high. (tested several times)
it seems this way it is almost impossible to brake anything .

as for the motor, i'm already on the BL route. (ordered parts)
from what i read the high temps will kill the main motor eventually.
even with that special alu heat sink it won't last over 20-25 flights.
i'm on flight 15 and already lost some flight time.....
but the tail seems to last. some guys had around 200 flights, before they changed the tail motor.

the motor you are suggesting could be better, but if the temps are similar it won't last much longer.

i just pulled the heat sink off my bcp+ tail, turns out its the same size motor, i dont know that it would have any more power but might be a cheap fix. as for the bl i might just have to go that route, i hate spending 30 bucks on a BL motor just cause its in a losi package and unfortunately hobbycity just stopped carrying fiago motors. ill probably keep searching until i get a little closer to the end of the stock motor and if i still havnt found anything ill bite the bullet. im arround 10 flights now and ive had it for 5 hrs or so, so if i keep going at this rate ill be needing a new motor by tomorow morning..

If you have a 4#3B the mods you'll are here (http://www.micro-flight.com/index.htm). I'm planning on getting the 4#3B and then upgrade it to the carbon Flex-strut frame and then add the phantom canopy.

can this tiny little heli do 3d??

it's a fp, so no :) There is suppose to be a cp version coming out, but after flying this little thing, I don't think I'd want to deal with the cp.... I can't imagine what sort of skills is needed to do 3d ,or even sport flying, on this thing. Certainly way beyond what I've got, and this fp is pretty fun, and less parts to deal with breaking :)

I spent about an hour this afternoon trying to fix a tail wag problem with a friends 4#3... any ideas on this one? replaced tail motor and bearings, main motor and even removed the boards from the 4in1 and mounted them direct on Gyro tape... The wag is still there though. It looks like a vibration issue on the Gyro as when you hold it lightly by the servos and spool up, the tail speeds up and slows down... if you hold it lightly by the 4in1 it seems to be happy when you spool up. Any ideas before i post in a more appropriate forum?

Sorry I only have the B, and not sure what the wag may be. Walkera is known for bad electronics, there are posts about loose crystals and such. Mine has an annoying drift that I can't seem to get rid of, but no wag. Did you play with turning down the gyro gain? that's usually the cause of wag....
