Hey guys was just browsing at some new tx's. Kinda going back and forth between the futuba6ch 2.4 and the dx6i. But What i was wanting to know is the dx6i that much better than the dx6. I've seen some used ones(dx6's) with the rx included for like 85,90 bucks. Should i just wait, is the dx6i worth it. I'm getting tired of the intermittent glitching of my servos from the stock tx. But it might be a wait to get the dx6i. Work is just to uncertain for this contractor right now ,money's tighter than it used to be. Just looking for some thoughts on that.

I used to have a DX6, and now I have a DX6i. I used a stock King 2 tx (0406A) in the mean time - October to April.
The only thing about the 6i that I like less than the 6 is the feel - very light, almost like a toy. But it doesn't perform like a toy.
6:
3-point curves
Have to use a p-mix for rudder dual rate
DSM1
push-button and text displays
trim memory dependent upon flight mode; i.e., trims may change between normal and stunt mode
memory-effectable NiCad pack
6i:
5-point curves
dedicated rudder dual rate
DSM2
scroll wheel and graphical displays
trim stays where you last set it even when you hit the idle switch (a good thing, IMO)
Good quality MiMH AA batteries
the standalone comes with an $80 rx
balances much better with a strap

The Spektrum DX6i is a very oft used Tx among guys on this forum - except Wolfie LOL - and is a capable performer. I use one and the settings/specifications are excellent for a heli. Two questions: -
1, Do you want to pay more for a Futaba?
2, Do you want to have [or envisage having!!] 7 channels, cos the Tx will outlive your helis!!
I was qite happy saying "no" to both and got the 6i.

That's what came into my mind when I first got mine. It looks cheapy and is light. And yes.. It feels and looks like a toy. It's also big and hollow. But, on the control side of it, it is awsome.
Lot's of settings in the menu's. Sticks move smoothly.
There are settings that keep the tail still when applying throttle but this is only for rate mode gyros.
And also the timer. It can count down from an hour. And when it gets to 00:00 It beeps loads so you know that you have to land your helicopter.
It does loads, you wont be dissapointed it you buy it!

Hey now!!!! i have the Hitec Optic 6 (full version) and love it, and has all the features the dx6i has only its 75mhz QPCM with Spectra Module and not 2.4Ghz...
and if i may quote Casper .... "big fleshy deal" :)
Optic 6 also costs more so if your on a budget you can use the toy feeling dx6i LOLOLOL..
boy i crack myself up.

One more point, regarding DX6i vs Futaba 6ch - the T6EX specifically - the 6i has subtrim, whereas the T6EX does not.
That's a non-issue to some people, but to others, like myself, it can be (and was) the deal-breaker.

Hey Mike
Don't forget the futaba users, I love my 7C 2.4Gh
The only thing I dislike about it is the battery only 600 mA about 3h of playtime.
So I will change to lipo 2000mA 10h, of playtime :lolol

Thanks for the reply guys. I might just hold off a little for the 6i if the glitching doesn't piss me off enough. The more options it has is sounding pretty good.

The glitches come fromt eh reciever pots themselves not the frequency....
My bro has had numerous problems with it and i switched out the pots on the radio, just recently his tail started Jerking unexpected and he thought it was the gyro going bad, some spray of electronic cleaner in the pot fixed the problem.

I dont think the DX6i feels cheap....it's solidly made well balanced has nice sticks and the batteries last for ages. It would feel better if the side grips were rubberised not hard plastic. It feels light because It only has 4 AA batteries not 8. Its not as nicely finished as some much more expensive radio's but it's no toy. :) Well I suppose theyre all toys except the ones flying military drones that launch missiles at Lebanese rocket launchers:YeaBaby:
