How do you guys transport your batteries in the car (from and to the field)?

I was thinking of getting a metal cash box (http://www.buyasafe.com/HW-3031-Deluxe-Insulated-Security-Box-p/hw-3031.htm) just to be on a safe side...

What do you think? Is there a better alternative? Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

I use a Great Plane E flight box.

I don't like metal cans because if something goes wrong, they become bombs with shrapnel.

I use an ammo box which I purchased from a military surplus store. Less than $10 and heavy duty. I do put a piece of foam over the batteries to prevent a wire from being pinched when closing lid to prevent shorting the lipo. There is a thread on rcgroups I will try to find where a lipo shorted out and the ammo boxed prevented a disaster. Most of the boxes also have a rubber seal where the lid closes.

Best thing I have found for transport and storage.

I'm usually guilty of not using anything, but when I remember the Lipo Sack (http://www.liposack.com (http://www.liposack.com)) works well.

I don't use anything special either. I either put them in the heli case or in my pockets.

I store them in the engine bay right next to the fan.

Unless your doing that theres not going to be a problem.....batteries don't just explode when their sitting there.

I stick six of 'em in here next to the bird:

For my 500, they just ride in the back seat. No seat belts either!

I put them in a tray in the bed of my pick up.. I wanna have time to bail if anything goes wrong. I had a metal ammo can that I used to put them in but noticed that the can trapped heat and didn't allow the batteries to cool properly.

I prefer ammo cans - they just look cooler. You can drill a few holes to vent (in case of mishap) and avoid the bomb scenario. Also good for charging indoors - I put the lipo in a lipo-sack, and put that in the ammo can with lid closed but not latched down.

I use a Great Plane E flight box.

Isn't it make of wood?

If you are concerned about the ammo box exploding, you can take the lead off.

A little late but better late than never.

A link to several lipo fires:
