These rubber canopy grommets they give you in the kit are LAME . not seriously lame but LAME none the less . as they are they are very hard rubber. The instructions say to boil them in water to soften them up so you can stuff them into the holes in the canopy easier .

I did this and they do get softer but not much , now I dont know if my mounting holes were small or what but these little buggers were very difficult to insert , and in the end the fiberglass cracked very slighty on 2 of them , not noticable but I know its cracked .

Once the rubber grommets are in it becomes a challenge to put the canopy on , its tough to line up the holes with the mounts on the heli mainly the lower mounting position at the nose of the heli .

I ended up cutting these front rubber grommets out of their holes with a knife and Im just going to put the grommet on the mounting screw as a washer to protect the paint on the canopy and thats it .

Anyone else had trouble with these ?

Try putting some Tri Flow oil on the grommets, works very well for the post type mounts. I keep forgetting the X50 has 4 screw mounts, my Hurrican's have barb posts up front.

The grommets are a royal PIA to get in I agree, this is what I've done in the past and it seems to work out quite well. locate the front dimple holes in the canopy for the front mount, drill them and insert the grommet, then mount on the heli, use the rear dimple as a guide to line up the rear, now use a pencil or marker and trace a line around the rear standoff on the inside of the canopy on both sides, remove canopy and drill a tiny hole in the center of the mark, now I dill a slightly larger hole with a bit in my dremel or pin drill and I use a lexan reamer to open the hole to the desired size, insert the rear grommets and the canopy should line up perfectly with very little effort to install, if you pre drill all 4 holes the rears could be off a tiny bit causing a rubber grommets to be stretched to get the 3mm screws to line up.

Installing the grommets into the canopy is going to be frustrating but trust me once they are in and the holes are drilled they will last a very very long time, patience with this whole proceedure is the key, these arn't plastic canopy's they are nice glass units and after taking my time with the last two that I've done they are holding up very well. I think the big difference for me was using the lexan reamer rather than using drill bits on the clearcoat, I haven't had any stress cracks or scratches since using this method, I did the same thing on the T-rex 600N canopy that RJX made with the Orange/yellow fade and it is holding up as well.

My tip for putting on the canopy:

1. front right bolt, insert first with your fingers in the back of the canopy aligning the hole.
2. back right bolt next.
3. back left bolt next.
4. front left bolt (last one) should align itself more or less with very little effort if all holes are drilled correctly.

it was a heck of a time getting them in the holes. I did have to boil water to get them in once i did they were ok but still had to flight at it.

You need to boil them..and I mean "boil them" in water for a while.
Then removed one at a time, dry them quickly with a towel and insert.
I had the same problem.
Being so hard, they should last a lot longer the the TT "O" rings
