I installed a TeleBee gyro on an otherwise stock Belt CP. In rate mode, the gyro acts normally, but in HH mode the helicopter wants to spin. I am new to the hobby and have searched for setup tutorials, but none that I have found address proper setup using the stock E-Sky tx.
Any pointers?

Did you had a look at this vid (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/hdx300&filename=tail_gyro.wmv)?

It will probably be difficult with the stock TX. A good transmitter like the DX7 makes it an awful lot easier. Even still took me many hours to figure it out, and lots of help from the forums.

I just installed the Telebee on my bro's TX and also one on my Esmart. Both worked right out the box and was no different in setup over the Esky HH gyro.

I adjusted the rudder from reverse to normal and that seemed to clear up the problem I was having with the gyro. Thanks for the input guys.

I just mounted a Telebee gyro on a Belt CP and had a similar problem. Difference is that my spins uncontrollably in both rate and HH modes. Even if brought under control with the stick, the spinning starts up again slowly until no amount of stick can stop it. This is with the trim adjusted so the servo doesn't drift with the gyro in HH mode.
I'm wondering about how the wiring should be hooked up, since the directions are vague (for want of a better word).
I know I have the Ch 5. connection correct, since the switch works.
The gyro is the "Telebee/Zoom Head Lock Gyro with ATV". Does the "with ATV" have anything to do with it?
For the rudder connection, the wires on the gyro are not white/red/black, they are brown/orange/orange-ish. See picture here: http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?products_id=494 . So which wire is supposed to be white?
For the connection to the servo, does white go on the outside edge, or does black go there. The directions show the connector in the middle of the casing (not on the outside edge), and the picture in the directions don't specify if you're looking at the top or bottom of the gyro (the connector is towards the bottom of the casing).
Thanks for any help you could possibly give me.

Hi dwesnor
I think I can help for the connection problem
The wires are Brown / Red / Orange / Yellow
Brown ...= Black
Red ......= Red
Orange..= White
Yellow ..= White on CH5
For the servo connection on the Gyro just plug it in with the black parallel to the brown, red parallel to red and white parallel to orange
The gyro should be mounted lettering facing tail and upright
Hope this helps a bit

Thanks. That's a nice piece of info they might have put in the instructions!

Turns out it's not the gyro, the belt starts slipping when it gets up to speed.
If anybody lands on this thread looking for info on the gyro, turns out it must be mounted vertical, label facing the tail, with the text right side up, not on it's side. You'll know it's right when the tail servo moves when you rotate the helicopter.

I'm using the Telebee with a stock Tx. I found that the best mounting position is actually label facing the side of the heli (if you hold the heli in front of you so that the nose is pointing toward your right, the label will be facing you). I tried with the label facing the tail, and the side mounting gives me better performance.

Actually one more comment. If you're using the stock Tx DON'T CONNECT THE GAIN WIRE (Yellow). That way you can adjust the gain with a potentiometer on the gyro, and find the sweet spot. This means you only have Head Holding mode, and the gyro switch on the Tx does nothing, but it's well worth it. My belt can lock the tail for 30-40 seconds with this setup. I have to hand it to Telebee, they made a great little gyro for our Belts!
