Hello all!

I was not happy with the performance of my ION-X2. I was using a 15s 3700 Flightpower pack and the power was good, but not amazing.

My friend, had just tried a new battery brand, Desirepower and I desided to try that as well.

All I can say is W O W. My jaw is below the ground. It was pulling 5000W and the RPM on the head only dropped 100RPM at full pitch. It was so strong that the belt the ION-X start to slipper!

I will re gear it a bit and it will hopefully drop eaven less. I will probably use less pitch.

Very, very very good packs.

Nicco,

Thanks for this info Mate. What is the battery capcaity of these cells and where can we buy them? Thanks for sharing this info.

Also, what motor have you been using on your 15s Ion-x2 and it's gear ratio? Thanks again.

Cheers,
TomC

Tom,

I am using 3700mAh. I use Neu 1915H 1.5Y with a gear ratio of 12.23, it is a bit high. I get 2100RPM on 70%. I wil try 12.91 with a 40t and 24t pully. They are larger (I use 30/19 no) and hopefully the belt not slip anymore.

The Nue motor is only 5mm shaft and I can not tight the belt as hard as I like. I will add a bearing on the top some day when it's raining or when I need to replace some parts due to gravity :-)

I bought this packs in Sweden. www.autopartner.se

How did you measure the power? What pitch?

Niklas,

So on 15s (~50v under high load, 3.33v/cell) you must be drawing approx 100 amps peak (=5000/50). That's ~27C for 3700 packs (=100/3.7). The highest I've ever drawn with these packs (5sEvo25-3700's) is ~80 amps peak and they were not too happy doing this (got a tad hot). The packs say 35C climbout, but I think that this is a bit optimistic.

Those DesirePower packs sound pretty good. I have not seen them listed in any other country yet. Pretty expensive in Sweden (~2,000 k ~ $330 each), or ~50% more than FP packs.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Tom C

Hello

Hm, I havent heard anything abou these Desirepower Lipos but here in Denmark or Germany we use the Kokam H5 4000 or 5000. They are expensive (475€ for 12s) but are allowed to be charged with 2C and they last longer than FP. I can charge a 12s with fast charge in 25 min. So that pretty good i suppose. And they can be abused without to be destroyed. Maybe I should try those desirepower as my second pack-anybody know iuf they are allowed to be charged with 2C?

If i am reading that correctly your charging an 12s 5000MAH pack in 25 minutes ?

how much are you putting back in after a flight ?

Hot hot are the packs after charging ?

how many times have you done this ?

How are the packs holding up ?

Hi,

I havent't done that more then 25 times but others in Germany have.
The KOKAM cells are allowed to be charged with 2c and kan stand it.
I only take 80% out of an 4000 pack so I put about 3200 mah back again.
So the only disatvance with these cells ae that they are about 250 gr hevier than other in the marked. My 12s is 1450 gr with 5mm gold connectors and big 6qmm sqare mm for the cable which is standard for Kokam.

I believe they are the same cells as the new "OUTRAGE" brand lipos. The cells are made in Korea.

There are many great reviews, the best thing about them is:
-weight is pretty much the same as FP packs
-25C/50C discharge and also new 30C packs
-voltage under load is much higher (so much so people are dropping there thr curves or gov)
-available in 3/5/6/8/10S packs
-cycle life looks promising (people getting well over 50 still going hard)
