My gear seizes up and looses it auto-rotation capabilities. What should I do to correct this?

siezing up???

suggeswt you check your mesh with the tail pulley and for Gunk between the main gear and the anti-rotation gear.

It the third gear and they all do the same thing. It was RTF and showed up this way. Should I just grease between the two gears.

I really dont understand what you mean by Siezed....

The antirotation gear is the one that is mated directly onto the main shaft via a screw pin at the very bottom.... no matter how you move this lower gear the blades will move, its not free spinning like the main gear... so maybe your just thinking of its function wrongly... if i am incorrect let me know.

No, what is happening is both gears a getting stuck together and the autorotation gear won't spin independent of the main gear. The heli will not auto rotate. If I hold the main gear and spin the rotor is will unstick, but the spin is not real clean. Once power is applied again the stick together.

um sounds like oneway bearing to me or did you go over that already.

yes one way bearing or the main gear has somehow melted a bit between the autorotation and main gear by the one way bearing, remove them and inspect and lube.

I am a little confused. When the gear is apart it spins correctly but not real clean. I don't see how it could be clean when it is plastic on metal. The one way bearing is new a appears OK. Once installed and power applied it is stuck together again.

Dude you got us all confused here....

perhaps a video of what you mean by STUCK.... when the main gear turns clockwise the antirotation gear must turn with it.

The only time the autorotation gear does not turn is if you turn the main gear counterclockwise.

Yea im a little confused myself. Do you mean when take both gears out and have them together they spin and then when you put them back in they lock up? And nothing plastic should be turning on each other or to metal. Thats what dierwolf was saying, maybe you need to adjust the one way bearing up or down.

Took it apart again and looked more closely at how it works. Lubed up the parts, it looks like it works once installed everything works as advertised. Then after a run up they are stuck together again. To unstick I hold the main gear and twist the rotor head.

Might want to go ahead and replace the one way bearing if this continues. Don't want anything to go wrong in flight.

stuck stick, unstuck ... LOL... what a confusion.

what do you concider "Stuck" stuck as in after you run up and turn the main blades both the main gear and autorotation gear turns together???

If so that could simply mean your motor magnets arent very strong and turns very easily which would let the main gear spin anyways (very loose heli).

Now if you mean you hold the main gear and it takes quite a bit of force to turn the rotor by hand then to me thats "STUCK"

which is it?

It is definitely "stuck" Dier.

OK, i think i know what you are running into. When using the stock belt cp main gear, the outer diameter of the hub that mounts the one way bearing is just big enough that it will stick to the tail drive gear when put into the heli. I tried for days to figure out what was happening. Then i switched to the main gear from the e-flite blade 400 and it has a slightly smaller diameter for the hub which holds the bearing. Problem solved. Not sure if i got all the terms right but it sure sounds like the problem I had.
