OK, so you guys are a bad influence! I've been reading this forum for a while and have started to look at the EP200SD. So far, it looks like Flying Hobby has the best prices. A few questions to the devoted following!
What has the experience been with Flying Hobby and their shipping?
They list a few combos that look like good deals. Considering the Professional Combo or the 3D Combo. Both have MX servos which I haven't heard anything good about, but with all the rest of the components, I can replace them with HS45s and a 3154 and still be ahead. Is the ESC and motor that come with the 3D Combo worth it? Looks like the 3D Combo has 3S batteries to the Professional Combo's 2S.
Any help will be appreciated!

flying-hobby will come highly recommended from most. check the shipping charges to your area before ordering though.
what ever kit you choose, it's up to you. do the research in this forum. just about every combo has been tried by someone in here. right now the SD looks like the way to go. hs45's, seem to be the best choice for cyclic. gyro, and tail servo...choose your poisin. better to pick something you've had a good experience with. i use the 2100t/3153. others use gy401/3154. others spartan, etc. for rx ar6100 is a good choice, or something as light as possible. read these forums carefully.

Thanks for the info! I plan on robing the ar6100 out of my CX2 and have had good luck with gy401 and 9257 in my T-Rex 450se, so plan on using another gy401 and a 3154 in the Gaui.
Anyone have any experience with the ESC and motor in Flying-Hobby's 3D combo? (Phoenix 25A ESC and Z-Power 300GT Motor.)
Even though I plan on swapping servos out, anyone know anything about the MX306BB servos that come with this combo?
What works better in the Gaui for a RX, the AR6100 or end pin AR6100e?

Ive had a couple of combos from Flying Hobby. No problems. Fung's a responsive guy for emails.
I have the 306's, seem ok, though they do occasionally 'explode', they are only clipped together, and I had 1 crash where either the tail servo exploded and I crashed or I crashed and the servo exploded, Im not sure which :thinking
Ive got 6100's in both of mine, tiny bit lighter, not much in it tho.

Thanks guys, I'm getting some good feedback. Any thoughts on balance with the 3s batts vs 2s? I have a bunch of 2s from my CX2 that I would like to use even if I buy the combo with 3s. (Gotta get lots of flying in when I do have time!) Do you suggest setting up the heli for balance with the 3s, then hang the 2s further out on the batt mount? Is there room in the canopy to do that?
Keep the great info coming!

"What works better in the Gaui for a RX, the AR6100 or end pin AR6100e?"
i would use the 6100, the 6100 is .9 grams less than the 6100e and imo the only good place to mount the 6100e is right on the forehead of the frame, in front of the two cyclic servos. where as the 6100 if mounted behind the stock battery tray will take less room because the servo leads will be pointed up wards.
this will also keep your options open for a battery tray that atatches to the spacer that the 6100e mounts to.
"Do you suggest setting up the heli for balance with the 3s, then hang the 2s further out on the batt mount? Is there room in the canopy to do that?"
i wouldn't suggest it for sport flying but you certainly can. if your just going to be practicing for a while i would just run 2s. the gaui is perfectly capable with a 2s and then when your ready you can rebalance for 3 cell.
when i first got this heli i was thinking i would have one 2s for light flying and then the rest of my batteries would be 3s... boy am i glad flew it befor i bought any batteries. the 3s really is quite frisky. and im not trying to talk you out of anything but i would try both be for you invest alot of money in either direction

Thanks! That's exactly the kind of info I'm looking for. Think I will start out with the 2s and see from there as I was planning on using this mostly as my indoor heli. The RX info is just what I was looking for too. It will help me keep from feeling like :arggg: when I start setting it up and give me an excuse to buy another RX instead of cannibalizing my CX2.
When I get my Gaui, will I end up hanging out on dark street corners, looking for batteries? :smokin:Sounds pretty addictive!

Not to hijack the thread, but I was just about to pull the trigger on a 200 with a Spektrum 6300. My only reason for this (besides having Spectrum 7000 and 6100 in all other planes/helis) I seen pictures with the 6300 installed. Was this the right choice of should I get a 6100?

As far as the MX306BB servos go, they are pretty good servos. I purchased my combo from Flying Hobby about 2 months ago and I just swapped out the servos this weekend for the Spektrum DSP60 digital servos in search of better centering. I did some testing of the servos for centering and the MX306BB's would be off center by only 1/2 to 1 degree under no-load conditions which was much better than some other analog servos I had lying around. So if that kind of tolerance is acceptable to you, then they are great; I'm not getting rid of mine.
Another thing, the GU-201 Gyro that ships with the combo works great. Excellent holding and sets up exactly as a GY-401, but about half the cost.
FWIW, I am using the AR6100 Rx.
As far as the motor and ESC, I have no complaints there either. The Flying Hobby combo gets an A+ from me.

Thanks Hover_X, I am looking at either the Pro Combo or 3D Combo from Flying Hobby. Both come with a gy401. Difference is the 3D has the Phoenix ESC, Z-Power motor and 3s Batteries instead of 2s, all for $36 difference.
I have a bunch of 2s batts from my CX2. If I get the upgraded 3D combo, will the 2s batts still work well? Then I would have the 3s for when I get good enough to get crazy with it. I hear a lot of you talking about the 15/10 pinion. Does it come with the kit? Does it work well with both 2s and 3s batts?
Z...keep the questions coming on this thread! It's all good stuff and others will think of things to ask that I don't, but will help getting the right set up!

In that case, I think I'll jump right in.:banana
Ok guys, sell me a Gaui. It shouldn't be too hard, (I'm a pushover) but you WILL have to convince me.
When the little guy first came out I really liked the idea, but at $400 there was no way. Now that prices are more reasonable, I'm interested again. But, and this is a big BUT, I've got a couple smaller-than-450-size birds and even though they're set up perfectly, they absolutely suck in the slightest breeze. If I were a better pilot it probably wouldn't be a big deal, but at this point it looks like I'm destined to be a perpetual nOOb.
I've been lurking around and from what I can tell everyone really likes this little rascal-but why, exactly? I've even seen a few comments that it flies like a 450, but I'm having a hard time swallowing that. Besides, the 450's aren't a lot of fun in the wind themselves.
So, lay it on me. Be honest. Tell me the pro's and con's, what you like and don't like about it.
I don't have space to fly inside, so this would be strictly an outdoor heli, just like the rest of 'em. I'd also appreciate any insight into the various versions available.
BTW, I will not order from Flying Hobby ever again. They screwed me over bigtime and I've learned my lesson-strictly stateside dealers from here on out. That being the case, who's got the smokin' deal on this heli at the moment?

Well, The Gaui 200 will not handle the wind like a 450 and sure as hell not like a 500,550 or a 600. It handles the wind better than a CP/CP pro and the like but unless your a good pilot or the wind is 5mph or lower your outta luck.
It's a awesome 200 class heli but, I don't think it's what your looking for. Hate to say it but its true. As a strictly outside heli I think you'd be unhappy with it.
I do fly mine outside all the time even in 10 mph winds (sometimes higher). The 200 will "bob" or gain and lose altittude in a fraction of a second. Personaly Its kinda fun.
Based on your post, skip the Gaui 200. Flame suit on.

No need for the flame suit Buzz-that kind of honesty is hard to come by these days. I greatly appreciate it!

Yeah I agree with buzz there... if you want an outside heli in the breeze, that is equal or better than a 450, then gaui 200 isn't your bird. It's a bit harder to fly, and obviously can't handle the wind like 400 size would. I often fly the gaui outside in a small back yard at night, when there is little or no wind. Sometimes when it's too windy I fly in the garage, but I never fly inside the house. Like buzz, I have had "fun" flying the 200 in the wind, and man it really is a handful. Dropping a lot of altitude in a fraction of a second make it unpredictable, not to mention being pushed around to the sides. When people say it feels like a 400 size heli, we are not kidding... but if you are expecting it to perform... or outperform a 400 size, especially to respect to wind conditions, no small heli can.
Here is a vid of a bit of a breeze, kind of hard to tell how strong the wind was that day by the vid, but let me tell ya... was having a heart attack trying to keep it from crashing :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuRvahoCGis

I'm gonna shoot a short vid in a few. We have 15mph winds so you'll be able to see how it handles the wind for yourself. Maybe it'll help. I have to get the cam, charge for a few mins upload to youtube and all that so it may be a while. www.weather.com zip 60098 for local conditions. You'll need to view in full screen to see the wind in the tress at the begining. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajIB22eNyn8

Well, I don't think there IS anything better, that's why I've been intrigued by it since it's release!
I've got a space roughly the size of Crabfu's, which is just too small for any of my other helis. But my time is very limited, so it would be nice to be able to just step out into the backyard and get in a little practice whenever I have a few minutes. And I gotta say, after watching your guys' vid's it looks like the litte bugger handles the wind pretty well.
Just out of curiosity, what's the RTF weight? (I'm assuming you're running 3s batts)
I've got a (insert expletive here) CP pro and a King II that I can toss around pretty well, but the Blade is a heavy pig and lacks any real tail authority, and the King @ 460 grams is just silly when it gets gusty. I'll fly them both (not the blade so much anymore, it's pretty much a shelf queen) in 10-20 mph winds but it's a struggle.

I went freeking b@tsh*t with trying keep it light, but it looks like I might have saved about 20g total, if that. Huh, go figure...
