Hi group!

I got my Gaui 200 a couple of months ago and my T-rex V2 has been neglected ever since... As a beginner I think the 200 is perfect, I'm not afraid to crash (parts are so cheap) and I feel I'm developing my flying skills more rapidly than with the rex. All good!

A couple of weeks ago the motor wouldn't start. Just twitched back and forth and not gaining momentum enough to rotate. I've used lubricants (silicon based) and adjusted the tail tension and nothing seems to be stiff or "stuck". Today I dismantled the heli to install some alu-upgrades and tested the motor loose. Same thing, but in this state it starts eventually. Sometimes it starts properly though and once running it doesn't stop.

Since I want to fly I've hot started the heli by rotating the main gear manually while adding some throttle but this is a dangerous operation. Is the motor done with?

I've been looking for a hotter replacement but couldn't find one, what are you guys using?

Also, I changed pinion and found that the new one is not as high and tends to drift downwards so that the pinion is not connecting to the main gear. What's up with that, do I have the wrong part?

I would suggest checking your pinion to main gear mesh clearance. Mine did the same thing after reassembly and I would have to spin the main gear by hand to get it going, but the motor and esc will run hot if you run it like that. There should be some play or slop between the pinion and main gear. I would also reprogram the esc there might be something not quite right there. You will have to use some loctite or CA on your pinion to keep it from moving down on the shaft. I wish the pinions had a grub screw like other helis.
