Under the heading of "don't say it, it will happen" I was talking to Wayne Brown who's out here in Indy working about my Bergen Gasser and never having a problem with the muffler loosing up. We got together today to fly (not smart as it's 90 degrees with 110% humidity) and things were going fine when I heard this weird noise. I had just replaced the torque tube because I had shred the centering bearing and I was concerned I was doing it again so I landed. I checked out the tail drive system and everything was fine.
So I asked Wayne to fly for it for me to see if the wind was playing around with the heli or it was just me. He flew it around a bit and I heard the noise again. All of the sudden, Wayne says your muffler is loose. He lands and sure enough for the first time in a year, both nuts were loose.
So I tightened them back up......the engine was hot so it was a good time to do it and I'll have to watch it more often.
It was nice to meet Wayne and fly with him, although not much flying as it was just too hot.
