Sup,

So I fly ze planes...I have a lot of fun with planes, I like to go fast. But a few months ago I started to fly heli on G4...and I have had a lot of fun with them as well! It would be nice to have something to go into my garage, or out front to fly and not need a mile long field.

So I can fly pretty much any heli in the sim, hover, loops, inverted, blah blah. Not a pro by any means but I can at least take it up and land safely. I have been flying a modified Axe CP with brushless and 3S lipo in the sim. Something along those lines would be cool for me.

What can I get that would compare to that? I am afraid that a FP or Coax will be boring in about 15 minutes of flying and I would have wasted my money. What do you think? HBK2 too much for me?

I know it is a sim, not like real life...but I have exp. flying and have no problems with orientation. Thanks for the help!

If you want small, look at the Gaui 200.. But, small is synonymous with twitchy.. So maybe a Trex 450?

450 wouldn't be the best inside, but I fly in the drive, out back, down the park, wherever.

HBK2 would be a good option. For your first i would personally buy a FP, not a coax. Coaxs dont teach you anything IMO. If you want something more challenging get the HBK, trex, b400 or similar.

One thing to be careful of: Your plank flying experience is NO where near the same as heli flying even for simple orientation. I flew planks for many many years and it really didn't help much at all with my heli's. Especially since when learning heli's, you are hovering only and have to make constant corrections. Learning to nose-in hover was one of the hardest RC skill's I've ever had to learn. So my point? Don't get overconfident because of your plank skills :)

Not to sound like an ass, but why not buy an AxeCP? The sim is pretty close to the real thing for this model, and the newest V3 AxeCP has 3s LiPo power. I've got a first gen AxeCP that I've done the separates mod to to improve tail authority and it flies great.

Well I got the Blade 400, man it is a blast to fly. Went through 4 batts today, no mishaps. Guess that 180+ hours of sim time did me good.

Although I can do a lot more on the sim, everything in real life is a work out. I am scared to even try nose in hover.

Great setup e-flite has put together.

In the sim I was running 125% physics, no expo, 50% wind gust, 20% variation, 20% turbulence, 10mph winds.

In real life I just setup the dx6i for 25% expo on all channels and it seems to suite me well for now.

Taking it to the field tomorrow morning, a few of the guys have HD cams I will try to get some video.

hmm so for me, i got 2 years worth of heli flying in the sim, i could take off, do 3D, and land or auto without crashing, i'm in total control of my heli all the time (except in piroflips xD)

so am i ready for a heli?
